A New Collaboration for Legendary
The upcoming sci-fi thriller Homewreckers is moving forward with a major potential addition to its creative team. According to reports, Craig Gillespie has entered negotiations to direct the project, which is currently in development at Legendary.
The film features Glen Powell in a starring role, with the actor also serving as a producer. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the project is based on a novella by Neil Paik, who is also handling the screenplay adaptation. The film has been described as a twisty, erotic sci-fi thriller.
Building Momentum
Legendary acquired the rights to the project in December 2024 following a competitive bidding process. The film continues to build anticipation as it moves through development, marking another high-profile venture for Powell, who has seen his career trajectory accelerate significantly over the past few years.
If the deal closes, Gillespie will bring his experience with character-driven narratives to the genre. The filmmaker has previously helmed projects ranging from biographical dramas to dark comedies, including I, Tonya and Cruella. His recent work includes directing episodes for the Apple TV+ series Your Friends & Neighbors and the Prime Video thriller The Better Sister.
Gillespie is currently preparing for the release of his latest film, Supergirl, which serves as his entry into the DC Studios cinematic universe. As he transitions between major studio tentpoles and original thrillers like Homewreckers, his involvement suggests a continued focus on projects that blend stylistic visuals with sharp storytelling.
