The cast for the upcoming cosmic sci-fi thriller Starman continues to grow. According to a recent report, Jeff Daniels is set to star alongside Brendan Fraser in the project. This film is written and directed by Josh Wakely and is not related to the 1984 John Carpenter movie of the same name.
In the film, Fraser portrays Tom Adams, a visionary technologist and architect of the future who launches a historic expedition to Mars. When unforeseen events leave him stranded millions of miles from Earth, his mission transforms into an urgent race against time. Daniels is cast as Ed Watkins, the protective co-leader of a company he built with Adams, a character who shares a deep personal connection with the lead.
Production and Context
Production for the sci-fi thriller is scheduled to begin this summer. For fans of the genre, seeing these two veteran actors share the screen offers a compelling draw. It is always interesting to see how high-concept science fiction projects balance technical ambition with the character-driven stakes described in the premise.
Upcoming Projects
Beyond this new collaboration, both actors have busy schedules ahead. Daniels is slated to appear in the fifth season of The Morning Show and is currently featured in the third season of Shrinking, both on Apple TV+. Meanwhile, Fraser is preparing to return to his iconic role as Rick O’Connell in a new installment of The Mummy franchise, which is currently scheduled for a May 19, 2028 release.
