Marvel still wants Wright’s Antman

Sounds like that long rumoured Antman movie with Edgar Wright is still something that could happen. In fact, big Marvel boss Kevin Fiege says its just a matter of getting it organized.

First Showing quotes Fiege:

“Edgar was in L.A. last week, we sat down, and we started working on a calendar of when to get him back into it once he finishes promoting Scott Pilgrim, so I think towards the end of this year, early next year we’d start looking at early prep for that, but certainly for a release date after The Avengers.”

Although Wright has been attached to the Ant-Man movie for a long time, he’s held onto the opportunity, waiting for the right time to make it, I suppose. It was actually just a few months ago when we reported that Stan Lee had been talking with Wright about that movie as well.

I would really like to see an Antman movie. Mostly because I could care less about Antman. I know that sounds strange, but with Iron Man looking so good, and the steps they are taking with other properties my optimism in just about any side character is up.

If they include the Wasp in The Avengers, she could be a segue into an Antman film, but considering they sound serious about getting this done after Wright is available I doubt Antman will be an initial Avengers member.

I figure Antman will come later, they will have a scene at the end with Fury saying he would be a good addition to the Initiative, and Antman might be in Avengers 2.

  1. Hank Pym could be featured as a SHIELD scientist, who is also working on his ant helmet &/or Pym-particle technology, thus spinning off of “The Avengers” into his own movie.
