Trailer online for Paul Schrader’s Exorcist: The Beginning

ExorcistBeginning.jpgI’ve just watched the trailer for Paul Schrader‘s Exorcist: The Beginning.

To catch up on the history of this, check out the following posts:

Censorship and rewriting affect both His Dark Materials and Exorcist: The Beginning

It appeared from Bloody Disgusting, through Coming Soon, go to BD and you can download it yourself.

It’s not that shocking or surprising, and in fact gives next to nothing away, which for a trailer is pretty good going nowadays. If you consider the trend is to show your three quarters of the movie including any twist ending! Actually, it doesn’t even make me interested in the film, the trailer for the second version did a better job!

The trailer was included on the DVD release of the second version of this movie, Renny Harlin‘s Exorcist: The Beginning.

  1. Schrader is a good director. forget to mention he directed “taxi driver”, starting Robert Deniro, which includes a memorable seen with him in front of the mirror mocking himself. For those who oppose this movie and say it will be cheesy and lame, that’s just ur ignorant mind set. I’m not saying it’s going to be a great movie but i think we’ll get more out of it from the original Renny Harlin version.

P.s the trailer looks more interesting than the Renny harlin version of the film.

  2. made “a good film”? Schrader wrote some of the finest films of the 70’s & 80’s and if you like to use your noggin’ his films are always interesting and usually very good, i.e.; Mishima, Light Sleeper, Affliction, Autofocus, etc. I’m looking forward to this film. I suspect it’s not for everyone but then again neither is Bergman or Dryer.

  3. Well, to me, it looks lame and cheesy. People out there won’t give Harlin a chance to fix it right. Maybe if they see it on dvd, it’d probably be a little better. And we’re not really sure if the first one is gonna be on cinema or not, or it maybe a dvd release, don’t know yet. We’ll just have to find out later. If they do release on cinema, it’ll be a limited release only. Schrader is probably doing this for money.

  4. I saw the photos, but not the trailer. Looks cheesy. I think it’s gonna suck. It’s probably gonna be more of dvd release rather than hitting cinema. So I’d stick to Renny’s version, no matter what people say out there. Schrader’s is just awful.

  5. Yes, the trailer left me a bit disappointed as well…I’ve been building it up too much in my mind’ eye, and that didn’t look much better than the Harlin version’s Trailer. I did not, and will not be seeing Renny Harlin’s film…my time isn’t even that valuable, but it’s worth more than that film.

Still, i approach the possible release of Mr. Schrader’s version with a bit more apprehension than anticipation than I had before seeing the trailer.

  6. Wow… that was completely mysterious and not in a good way. Vague would be the better word. I’m hoping it’s just a badly done trailer though. From what I’ve heard of this version, it has more potential than the crap dished out this past summer.
