Quentin Tarantino to direct CSI season finale

QuentinTarintino.jpgNot strictly movies, but close enough for me. I’m a big fan of CSI, the original more than Miami, and NY is growing as I watch it, but nothing beats that first team. Especially for me Grissom, the character played by William L. Petersen who I first saw in Manhunter playing much the same character. A very inward man, and a very good performance.

So the latest CSI season finale is to be directed by none other than Quentin Tarantino. He’s done mainstream TV before with ER, and is supposedly a big fan of CSI. From The Holywood Reporter through Coming Soon:

Tarantino has long been a fan of the stylish forensic drama as series creator/executive producer Anthony Zuiker learned when he bumped into Tarantino at an awards show during “CSI’s” first season. “He knows everything there is to know about ‘CSI,’ and he is into the whole mythology of ‘CSI,'” Mendelsohn said. Zuiker, in particular, “worships Quentin,” she added.

Mendelsohn said the story will involve a plot that finds one of the key members of the CSI team, led by Gil Grissom (William Petersen), in serious jeopardy. The teleplay will be written by Mendelsohn, Zuiker and Naren Shankar.

May 19th seems to be the date to watch out for.

  1. Total CSI nerd here…Tarantino’s 2-1/2 minute autopsy skit was total waste of film. Looking forward to next season sans the ratings practice of guest directors or cameos…what next, guest appearances by Tony Curtis and the like?

  2. wow, i cant believe season 5 is almost over!! and i cannot not wait for season 6. may 19th is an episode not to miss. i wonder if the person responsible for nick’s kidnapping is someone the team knows???

  3. Cannot wait for this eppy to air! I have been anxious that he would, on one hand, muck things up for the show, or on the other, his celebrity would create such a build up that what he directs pales in comparison to our hopes. I hate hype, but I have to admit, I’m really interested in what he story idea is and how it will look when shot. Whee. :-D

  4. Err…no, definitely for the CSI episode in the US.

Actually, Sinise is looking pretty good in it, although like Peterson, the character isn’t a great stretch from previous ones, he has the perfect feel for it.

Is this also because of the worldwide release date of “Revenge of the Sith” Rich? *winks*

I have yet to watch a CSI episode, but a colleague at work will lend me her videos of it. So I guess I can share your enthusiasm eventually. How’s Gary Sinise getting on in the CSI: New York one?
