I agree with you to an extent John… I also think that a focusing on Jack Sparrow/Barbossa could be very interesting.

I gotta’ say though, I never agreed with your opinion of the second and third films in the series. I know I’m most likely in the minority here, but At Worlds End is actually my favorite film of the series.

I’ve also never really had a problem with either Knightly or Bloom’s work in Pirates. I’ve never really been a huge fan of KH, but I thought she did a decent job in the Pirates films.

Another thing that I’m sure will put me in the minority is my take on Orlando Bloom… I actually think the guy is a pretty decent actor and I’ve never really understood what everyones problem with him was. Just check him out in the director’s cut of Kingdom Of Heaven(not the horrid excuse for a film that was the theatrical cut… terrible, terrible film… but the director’s cut is a classic), you really get to see how good the guy can be in that version. If the Director’s cut had been the version that was released in theaters, I don’t think everyone would rag on the guy they way they do. Who knows, I may just be waaaaay off base here. Wouldn’t be the first time.

That’s not to say that I want Orlando or Keira back in any further Pirates films or anything. Their characters’ story lines were brought to a close and to bring them back would just be plain idiotic.

IF the movie will focus on Barbossa & Jack then I’m in. I love pirates and would be interested in seeing a PIRATE movie with all the scoundrel carousing, double crossing and NO retarded love story to distract. Love has no place in a pirate movie! I want the open sea, tawdy whores at port, cannon explosions and sword fights.

I am a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but after the first they began to head downhill. I have to say the first and second movies were excellent and well put together. On the other hand, the third was to long and carried way to many different plots at one time. There were some points in the third movie that just made you want to hit the fast forward button to hurry it up and get to the good action scenes.

A fourth movie is both good and bad in my opinion. Good because Bloom and Knightley’s departure will help the fourth movie a lot. Their parts (especially in the third) tended to complicate the movies. I didn’t mind Orlando’s character, but I could not stand the character Keira played. Also, I am interested to see what Disney will do with Captain Jack Sparrow and his arch enemy Captain Barbossa and how the story will progress.
It’s bad because Disney is going to blow Pirates out of proportion and ruin the Pirates Trilogy. The Pirates movies brought in a lot of money so Disney will continue to do them as long as their is a considerable profit in sight. Who wouldn’t?

I agree that it would be pretty cool if it had to deal with just Jack and Barbossa. I actually liked all 3 POTC films, yet I do think that it would be nice to not have Knightley in POTC 4. I haven’t had any problem with her, and I’m not saying she’s a bad actress, it’s just by POTC 3, the love stuff kinda had nothing to it. As for Bloom…heck, I could take him in POTC 4. The only movie I disliked him in was Troy, but that was mostly because of Diane Kruger making him suck. POTC 4. Let’s hope it works

I love the characters of Jack Sparrow and Barbosa, and would love to see them in future films. But I also don’t think Bloom and Knightley were dead weight. They were both an integral part of the story since film 1.

having balboa and jack mainly focused on is a good thought, but i strongly disagree. I wouldnt want to watch a movie that only has two characters. Its fun to watch a bunch of witty characters. anyway jack needs his crew. Characters elizebeth swan and will turner are great, it gives the movie romance.

When I heard the initial rumors of a 4th movie shortly after the release of PotC3, I heard that it was going to focus mainly on Jack (Didn’t hear much about Barbossa, but it’s possible.)

And I agree on your opinion and the movies declined with their actual quality, but that tends to happen to many movies when sequals come out.

But one thing I want to express my opinion on is that truthfully, I think Kiera and Orlando should deffinitly be brought back. I personally don’t like Kiera all that much myself, but I think they would at least need to make some small cameo somewhere. And yes, Orlando typically plays the “get-the-girl-pretty-boy” in a big majority of his movies, and he’s far stronger in some films than others, but I think Pirates is a good place for him. It’s a balance between his “heartbreaker” and his “hero” character aspects. Two things you must consider, though.
First of all, even if the Will/Elizabeth saga may seem to be over at the end of Pirates3, they managed to bring Barbossa back into the plot even after he died- and since I personally believe it was never in their official plans to make a long series out of it (don’t take my word for it, I just think that…) it could have easily ended where it did in the first movie. But they did it. So they could easily find some reason for them to come back, too.
Secondly, it’s a Disney movie. And as you all may know, just about every Disney movie has love in it. So it’d seem out of place for them to leave no room for romance. And since Jack can’t seem to find that one special girl, they at least would need Will and Elizabeth for that. Unless they could find some way to introduce more destined lovers… which is doubtful.

Pirates 4 would be a great installment on this already fabulous series, for those that say that At Worlds End wasnt great most likely didnt understand the plot and all the scallywaggin going on. Everyone was double crossing everyone, is that not the pirate way???? Quit bitchin and enjoy these movies for what they are…

first off, the last two movies were genious.. im sorry you have no appreciation for good cinema. however i agree about kiera knightly and the other fag, they need to go. the only way i want to see another movie with kiera knightly is if it’s rated “r” for nudity… if you see what im getting at…
but on a more serious note… i think the pirates 4 should pick up where the 3rd left off… with jack and barbosa in a race to find the fountain of youth.. and some freak accident, like will’s blacksmith shop burns down and he and elizabeth are trapped inside, and that would end the reign of the 2 of them.

Seems like everyone wants to be a movie critic. Remember what movies are: escapism, pure and simple. I thoroughly enjoyed all three films and would enjoy seeing more. They have an ensemble of actors that works well on the screen. Relax and enjoy. That’s what the films are for. Anyone who wants to fuss needs to talk to the writers of the films.

Get real kiddos, Kiera’s character was just annoying by the third film and Orlando had nothing to do but look constipated in an attempt to convey emotion. They had the scene at the end of the credits in the third film, that’s the filmaker’s way of saying this is what happened to them, THE END.

There is nothing left for them. Time for Jack and Barbossa and lots of treachery and fighting.

OK seriously. I don’t really do any blogging at all. as a matter of fact its my first, but I was reading some of the entries here and felt that I just had to say something. I am a big fan of the pirates series, and honestly it gets a little tiring hearing people rip on certain aspects of the movies. Regardless if you like kiera and orlando, you cant escape the fact that jack is mainly comic relief and a way to tie all the characters together. I’m sorry, but it’s true, I mean thats why we all love him. hes not really caught up with all the drama that everyone else is in. And remember that the series started as kiera and bloom’s story. And I’d kind of like to see how that turns out. And by the way, their story isn’t complete as a lot of you seem to be eluding to. If you’ll recall, the boy at the end of the 3rd film watching his father(Will) come home with his mother(Kiera), is the same boy that got hung at the beginning of the movie. Now obviously, a lot happened between those 2 points, and personally, I’d like to see what it was. I’ll tell you the truth, I haven’t read anything about whether they’re making a 4th one or what it might be about, but in my opinion ( based on what I’ve seen in the movies), there WILL be a 4th one because there’s just too many ?’s left unanswered, and their still is money to be made off this franchise. Elizabeth and Turner WILL be in it, because their the foundation, and their story isn’t finished yet. And its going to be awesome, just like the rest.

Well they’re tieing the two movies together. They’re going to find Neverland!

I think Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley are the best part too. The romance is a big part in this movie, because think about it this movie wouldn’t have been made without it because Will Turner only goes with Jack Sparrow to save Elizabeth Swan. So of course they should be in it!!!!!

One thing I think many have missed is the VERY end of the credits on Pirates 3. Elizabeth and a 10 yr old son watching & waiting for Will’s return on the horizon.
I think a Pirates 4 would good. A possible plot could be his kidnapping to get to Will. Also can see Jack & Barbosa being involved to save the boy.

The way I see it, part three was definitely the best, and everybody who has bad stuff to say about Orlando and Keira, you just freakin’ suck!!!!! Why are you insulting them? They can’t be left out of the movie!!!! They play an essential part in the story for all three of the movies, so it would be idiotic to leave them out and there would be plenty of disappointed devoted fans (Like me), who wouldn’t want that. I think that another movie would be a good idea, and I know that I wasn’t the only one that felt a bit sad upon watching the last few minutes of Pirates 3. As said in above comments, a Disney movie just isn’t a Disney movie without a little romance, so maybe there could be an actual romance with Jack? I am sure that if there is an actual movie, the writers and Disney will be sure to create something that is just as pleasing as the original 3.

potc needs more action as disney has been told already. there is also evidence from the director that bloom and knightely will not participate as main charcters but might grab some very small parts.
In my point of view i think that they should awaken the kraken and davy jones will come back from the sea on it willing to kill orlando and sparrow for what they did to him.Also the fountain of youth would also bring more action into the film as some new british faggot person tries to reach there before the pirates and would need a advantage (hint hint …….. maybe elizabeth because she is holding the heart)

I think they left WAY too many things undone at the end of three. I mean, does Will only get to see his wife 1 day every 10 years? Is there a way to break the curse? Both Jack and Barbosa are looking for the fountain of youth…they want immortality, will they get it? I mean they dropped the last film off with everyone on their way to Florida. And for sure, BRING BACK KEITH RICHARDS as Jack’s father! That was awesome and they could do a great story with that in it. I don’t neccesarily think they need to do three more films but at least another one and actually give everyone some closure. The cool thing is that the movie can stand to happen with or without Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom (not that I don’t like them, but it is called PIRATES of the Carribean, not love story of the Caribbean).

Hey I take exception to that comment about tween girls. I happen to be over 50 and enjoyed each and every POTC movie. All the actors were great and yes my fav was Johnny but then I have been a long time fan and not just become one because of the POTC movies.
All that said, what I would like to see but I doubt they’d do it, is a woman character as strong and as much as a scallywag as Jack that he could match wits with. I think that would be interesting instead of these damsel in destress women. Elizabeth’s character came close but not close enough.

I dont think that they should take the whole Will and Elisabeth sequence. I love all the fighting and wars and stuff but there has to be some romance with the familiar characters. Maybe the fountain of Youth could be found of the Island that Elisabeth is staying on b/c Will would never die, but Elisabeth would get older and older. that is how they could get Will and Elisabeth back in the story.

I am all for Jack and Barbossa in the next films. If the online game of the movie is anything to go by, this series has a huge fan base.

As for Will and Elizabeth, their story has only begun. They now have a son and because Calypso is the one who put Davy Jones in charge of the Flying Dutchman, its still unknown if she will release Will from his duty.

Surprisingly, none of the above posters mentioned this. There was a scene deleted from the movie where Calypso tells Davy Jones he could have been released from his duty.

The other deleted dialogue is the ending in the beach scene with Will and Elizabeth. There were a few key items they cut out. Pity

Unfortunately, the video of POTC 3 release in the deleted scenes SUCKED. I would truly hope someday they release all 3 movies and include all the deleted scenes.

Yes I would say Orlando and I are close friends, but all the things I said before about what’s happening in pirates 4, that was just a rough script so those things will not be in the movie. The Movie Pirates of the Caribbean 4, the pirates will be going to the fountain of youth, and you will see the young Jack Sparrow and you possibly will see the adventures he goes on as a young boy, he wasnt always like he is now, jack I mean, he used to be a little different, but not much as it says in the script, that’s just my opinion though, but anyways I will not be able to write on here not too long from now. I will be too busy with the movie, and once we start filming I cannot tell you anything else about the movie, so I hope that is what you were hoping to hear.

It could be a good film if it’s agreed all around that Will and Liz’ story is complete and done with. A 4th to open up the REAL story lines of Barbossa and Sparrow Would be interesting, include more of Keith Richards’ pirate and bring in Black Beard and/or some real ruffian plundering. It’d be fun to find out more of Barbossa and Jack’s relationship, How Jack became the infamous Jack Sparrow, and the storyline between him and his father and Bootstrap could be pretty wicked. The first three were good with the 1st and 3rd being the best of. This time without Will and Liz promoting Barbossa and Jack to Main Character positioning would make it way more fun. The fountain of youth could be a good idea if written right but lets hope they stay away from the Atlantis arcs, What the hell would a Pirate need/want from Atlantis anyway??

JOVI! Thanks for the info! I was wondering if it would go down that path…also I had this bizzar idea….at the end of AT WORLD’S END it seems like the boy is Will and Elisabeths son (played by Dominic Scott Kay), but the credits title the actor as ‘Young Will Turner’ and not ‘Young William Turner III’ …I just thought that was odd…and if I were going to write a few more installments I could defenatly see something like the young Will has to meet the Captian Dutchman Will on land after the first ten yrs in order to break the curse…like rekindeling his spirit or something…and it’s not like early reports haven’t said this could more ‘Jules Verne’-like! Maybe they just generalized the young actors title, but after watching shows like LOST I have become a rather suspicious person when thinking about plots of films and books! Thanks agian for the info…seeing young Jack would also be very kewl!

I would love to see a fourth Pirates, but I would like to see some love interest in the movie between Bloom and Knightly. I realize that it shows the “ending” but what about after the credits in the third movie when Bloom comes back to find out he has a son? I do enjoy watching Depp. I believe his character adds a great comic relief. I’m all for a fourth!!!!

OK the 2nd and 3rd werent horrible, hard to follow at times, but not shit as u so put it. They Could make a Killing on the 4th! Say Elizbeth Dies, baby Will becomes a Pirate, Barbossa And Jack Fight over the Fountain of Youth, and they need The Duthchman’s Help!!! There are plenty of ways they can spin it but TO MAKE A GREAT MOVIE drop Swan and Leave Will Out!!! Barbossa And Jack made all 3 movies!!!

BUT I heard they’re making 7of em so like it or not Pirates are here to stay!
