Star Wars: Clone Wars Coming To Theaters

By John - February 4, 2008 - 13:13 America/Montreal

Star-Wars-Clone-Preview.jpgRegardless of how the new Star Wars prequels worked out, I will be a die hard Star Wars fan for life. That will be a part of me that will never die. So having said that, I am pumped to see these new Star Wars TV incarnations we’ve been hearing about. One animated and one live action. Even though I’m pumped, I remain scared to death they will suck like a drunk chick on prom night.

This little bit of news has me excited though. According to the folks over at Movieweb, it appears the first 4 episodes of the new animated “Star Wars: Clone Wars” may be edited together and given a theatrical release!

It looks like George Lucas’ upcoming CGI animated TV series Star Wars: Clone Wars may be coming to theaters in the UK. AICN and action-figure.com are reporting that the film will debut in May around the same time as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

This would be pretty damn cool. Sadly for me, it appears it’s only being planned for release in the UK. No word if it’ll get a North American treatment or not.

Here’s the little sneak peak at the new series:

Please don’t suck

why people bash the prequels? Sure they were made because they were a guaranteed cash cow, but they were of the same shitty quality as the original Star Wars films. They all suck ass.

  2. Kevin C says:

This seems like the proper medium for the series. Although I dont like that they have already painted themselves into a corner with the story.

They should have done the whole Force Unleashed Secret Apprentice storyline and then have the videogame coincide with it.

  3. Kryptonite says:

spagett is just a troll, trying to start something. Ignore him.

  4. Meli says:

An animated series for The Force Unleashed would have been awesome.

Still, I’m excited for this next animated series even if we know where the story ends it’s nice to see the in between.

  5. DJ Machismo says:

I’m all for this. Now put this out in theaters.

Actually I don’t really care if it hits theaters, as long as it hits Blu-Ray I’ll be happy.

  6. audioout says:

Did I just see a prototype Death Star blast???

This actually looked pretty cool. Then again we didn’t really hear much dialog.

  7. miles says:

i think doing a wide release of this will just damage the franchise further.

the general public will see it as a nother blow to it’s quality.

i think a very limited run with dvd release would be a smarter move.

  8. sfsilver says:

The action parts look fun for TV, but the characters look terrible. Lucas pretty much drained my good will and interest with the poor quality of the prequel films. This will have to get huge positive word of mouth after people have actually seen it for me to care.

  9. spagett says:

    Kryptonite is a troll…ignore him.

  10. DONALD says:

I would rather see what happens after Anakin became Darth Vador. I know they are making a game for that, but a film would be kick ass.

  11. UKAndy616 says:

    Sweet animation…

  12. Rmags says:

I think it would take away from what made the main star wars movies good, which was all the emotion evolved in it, this sounds like a straight out war movie, and it’s clones and robots with no feelings.

  13. chris (the real one) says:

not to be an asshole but i kinda agree with spagett…..never been a huge fan of star wars…..i admit the empire strikes back was cool but a new hope and return of the jedi were medicore and the prequels were ass…..

but the clone wars cartoon was the shit and if this is half as good as those were i will be entertained….and yea seeing vador when he started his reign of terror killing the renegade jedis would be a better story to make…

  14. bryan says:

they alredy did this on cartoon networck and it fuckin ruled. this looks exaxctly like a pixar version and you can’t beat genndey so i’m not to excited.

  15. Dalamar says:

Please Lucas no more. The prequels were trash and now you wanna go on warpath to bury your cash cow franchise.

Stop making Star Wars movie and shows. You lost your edge.

  16. Sardaukar says:

First time I’ve seen this. Doesn’t look too bad…

  17. takata says:

The problem with this is the period they are using. The prequels turned the anakin history so lame thats almost impossible to get excited to see anything related with him .
Now i know that the great lord of the sith Darth Vader was in the past a crying baby with authority problems who screans NOOOOOOOOOOUULL!!!when the shit hits the fam.
WHY THEY DONT USE ANYTHING RELATED WITH THE FIRST MOVIES?
Something about what happened after the episode 6?
Or even like someone said above something related with the Vaders age?

  18. Gordon Shumway says:

This era has been covered by the Clone Wars cartoon. Why not spend time and money on Thrawn or something new.

  19. Jesse says:

Star wars is the bomb, and has been since 1977. I think they should fix the top grossing movies of all times to fit inflation. The first star wars would have grossed about 2.5billion which would beat titanic like a red headed step child at 913mil, based on the current avg ticket prices.
