Iron Man and Hulk Sharing A Scene In Both Movies?
Some time ago we mentioned that Samuel L Jackson was appearing in Iron Man as Nick Fury and that he would probably appear as the same character in other upcoming Marvel movies. This is GENIUS on Marvel’s part and illustrates EXACTLY what Warner Bros. is doing wrong with the DC characters. Establish the characters first, then slowly start to connect them together, instead of rush out some cheap ass “Justice League” (or Teen Titans more accurately) movie with new actors playing roles that already have their own franchises going.
Anyway, there is a rumor right now that seems VERY plausible over at AICN. Word is (and take this with a grain of salt) that both the upcoming Iron Man movie, and the new Hulk film (which are being released just 1 month apart) are going to share a scene in some way that appears in both movies.
there are some fuzzy politics going on with the Iron Man and Hulk movies – they’re shooting a scene TOGETHER! The trouble is, I can’t tell if its an Iron Man scene with the Hulk in in or a Hulk scene with IRON MAN in it, more interestingly, it’s possible that the SAME SCENE or some variation of it might be in BOTH movies lending to the comic book / single universe, many heroes idea seen in the past
I think this would be a terrific idea (if it is true… which is not certain). Show these titans living in the same universe and lay the ground work properly for a possible Avengers movie in the next few years sometime.
Like I said, I have no idea if this is true or not… but the possibility of it has me excited. If true, genius on Marvel’s part… and I hope to heaven WB is taking notes and trying to learn something. (Thanks to Jarred for the heads up)

I’m with you John. I think that this could be an awesome start on the way to an Avengers movie. And even if they don’t go that far, it would be very cool to at least see two franchises interacting with one another.
It would be cool, but it sounds too good to be true
It frustrates me that WB never took advantage of the opportunity that they had in owning all of the DC comic properties to create a wonderful, expansive, and coherent DC film universe the way Marvel wants to do now that it has more control over some of its properties. Instead, it is going to create a seperate continuity for JLA and run it against Batman & Superman, while seemingly killing off any chance of a Flash movie, or Wonder Woman, or Green Lantern.
Marvel is doing something which will get the fans squealing with glee (i.e. showing respect to your fans and consumers). They still have the tough nut of a Captain America movie to crack but i think they are on the right track so far. Just don’t rush it Marvel, play these things out properly….
….And get back X-Men from Fox.
Well, maybe not so much. See, a really, really major point they missed in the casting of Nick Fury…is that he IS NOT A BLACK MAN! No offense against Jackson here, he was phenomenal in Pulp Fistion, and hilarious in SOAP. But please, could we get some freaking continuity established here folks??? ….been reading Marvel since oh, 1964/5 and Nick Fury IS a big rouigh-edged, rough looking hombre….with an eye patch!
This is just another example of Hollywood doing a PC-hatchet job on an established character. Sick of it….why not get Will Smith who just made a travesty of I AM LEGEND????? ‘Nuff said!
Hey Tripp,
Ummm… actually… Nick Fury IS a Black man in the comics now… has been for a long time. Therefore, it’s totally accruate for them to cast Jackson.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Nick_Fury
In my opinion Black Fury is so much cooler than white Fury, seriously. White Fury is David Hasselhoff for fucks sake
This sounds great. As for Fury, as long as Jackson can pull it off than it’s fine with me.
John, only in the Ultimate Universe…er, ah…ok, I’m a geek.
This news, if true, makes me thrilled for what Marvel has in store for us.
Speaking of the Ultimate Universe (yep, Spider-Man 3 again!), Venom should have been more of a standard “experiment gone wrong”, instead of…well, you know how he was ‘introduced’.
Btw, shame Nick Fury got cast (Jackson’s a good choice, hopefully), because I could see John with the eye-patch :)
Okay…where to start.
How about here:
1) I don’t give one shard about Marvel’s Ultimates, I despise all the retcon, and wish it never took place in comics. Now, film-wise…I’d much rather Nick Fury be a lean Steven Seagal, but if the powers that be grant that role to Sam Jackson, so be it. I have no problem with it. It’s just a supporting bit role. Role is filled.
2) I don’t think they (Hulk and Iron Man) will share a scene together onscreen. It is possible that one shooting location was used in both films for different reasons/purposes (Kind of like X Men Last Stand and Fan Four Rise Of Silver Surfer) or perhaps some news report mentions stock in Stark Enterprises…something like that.
3) It’s possible we might have a X-Men/Spidey joke (or the Punisher in Spidey 2-as one of Tom Jane’s body doubles brushes by Mary Jane) …only it’s Iron Man and The Hulk.
4) Personally, I’d rather see a cameo of Hulk in the Wolverine film as there could be a fight with the Wendigo. I know it won’t happen. But it’s a thought.
The idea of having Iron Man share a scene with Hulk or the other way around is very possible. Iron Man has a history with Hulk even before the Avengers (Gray Hulk, Jeph Loeb) and that is why imho it would be better for Iron Man to guest start in the Incredible Hulk. I mean, the Iron Man film seems to have a thick plot with little flexability and the idea of fitting Hulk in is puzzling. Whereas The Incredible Hulk film seems to have a tad bit more room.
I’m glad they made the decsision to add Nick Fury in Iron Man, it shows Marvel wants the Avengers project to happen. The fact that he is black confuses me; Nick Fury is black in the Ultimate universe, so why isn’t the Iron Man movie called Ultimate Iron Man and then with this latest bit of news adds more questions so I’ll stop now.
I’m wondering how they can do it right. How do you have Iron Man in the Hulk movie (or vice versa) in a bit part?
Seriously, how do you justify Iron Man not sticking around to help the military reign the Hulk in? And how do you have Hulk in Iron Man and not have him be a major player?
It seems to me that the only way they can manage it is to force it, and I think that would come off cheesy.
As for Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury, I think he’ll do a kick ass job. Even if the Ultimate Nick Fury hadn’t been introduced, I don’t see anything about the original character that requires the actor portraying him to be white. That complaint just smacks of the nit-pickery that gives comic book readers the ridiculous reputation they have. (The same goes for Will Smith in I Am Legend, since someone brought it up. I just read that book and specifically looked for any reference that would require him to be white. Aside from a mention of blond hair, there really wasn’t anything, and there certainly wasn’t anything important.)
Just a clarification: If they can do it right, I’m all for a shared movie universe for the Marve characters. It adds a lot of depth and potential to the stories.
Well I guess with the high price of comics in recent years I must have missed a few (spell ALOT…) issues. Whne did the great “Change” take place?
Guess we older fans should be grateful Fury did npt travel to Sweden for any other “changes”!
I have no problem with Samuel Jackson being cast as Nick Fury because if Michael Clarke Duncan was able to pull of playing Kingpin in the Daredevil movie, I don’t see why Sam Jackson couldn’t do the same.
The simplest explanation at this point is that before they are aware of one another Banner and Stark have a meeting for some reason. This is perfectly acceptable as they’re both specialists in their field. At any point Banner could be a consultant for Stark on Biology or radiology (which I assume is his speciality) and Stark could be an expert on technology or engineering. Hell – Banner could be asking for a research grant.
I think this is more likely than their superhero alter egos.
I dont think its a good idea as some like hulk does seem so great when you have some one as powerful as iron man flying around. I mean really would batmen be such a wonder if superman also existed in that universe (i know they do)
Sam Jackson as Nick Fury..Freaking Sweet!!! I’m counting the days till Iron Man comes out…
Just saw the look of the abomination on superheros hype….i have had such high hope for this movie but after seeing the abomination they made of the abominations look….what a badddddd design. Why cant they stop screwing around with greatness. Man I hope this movie doesnt continue this trend. Abomination was one of the cooler marvel designs now he looks like the toxic avenger. A bad Sign
Paramount seems to be on the right track. Imagine a TV SERIES each week with IRON MAN / PEPPER / HAPPY / NICK FURY / WARBIRD, / THE BLACK WIDOW and THE MANDARIN. Special guest stars : the Avengers and Stan Lee.
IRON MAN TV SERIES. http://screenrant.com/archives/exclusive-new-iron-man-fan-fil-1274.html
I was reading one of my GF gossip magazine here in Australia, and it had an Interview with Robert D. jr, and somewhere there it said: “all this granted him his last 3 big projects:” i don’t really remember the words but well the rest said: “and he will also re appear as his Iron Man character in the new Hulk movie due in june.
lets just wait because this will kikass
saw the movie, no hulk… maybe it is in the hulk movie, or maybe it was after the credits of the iron man movie? i didn’t stay for the credits to find out. someone please check it out whenever it comes out where you are.
stark will have a cameo in the hulk movie, nick fury appeared in the iron man movie after the credits, so he also might appear at the end of the hulk movie thus creating the platform for the avengers movie…
Nick fury appears in the scene following the credits on Iron Man, recruiting tony stark to the “avengers initiative”. The character is supposed to repeat the scene in the new Hulk movie. its it too far-fetched to imagine the same scene in the end of the new Wolverine?

Marvel has ALWAYS been smarter about the ‘universe’ than DC. It worked when Stan and jack laid the foundations and it will work now. The Avengers movie will happen before the JLA movie. Thor has to be made and released.
I can see the Captain America movie ending with him being frozen and then him being thawed out in the 1st or second Avengers movie.
I am just glad to be alive during these times.
Excelsior!
Nick Fury started out as Sgt. Fury! He is not black.. He was a WW2 soldier running around with his howling mad commandos =). I love the acting of Samuel Jackson but this bothers me, as I see it as more of a, Oh no, we don’t have enough black Superheros lets just change one that already exists. I think it is sloppy at best.
As far as SHIELD goes I have never really liked them anyway. Flying around in there giant aircraft carrier causing more trouble then they are worth.
And as for the long time comment? how long? There have been Nick Fury comics since the 60’s (Now that is a LONG time) so Has it been longer then that? I don’t think so.
Nick Fury was at his best when he was stuck in WW2 or fighting along side the punisher. -Side Note there was a great little video game that made it to the arcades with this team up!-
Marvel can do what they want with there characters but I think it is just lazy on there part not to create a new char for Samuel Jackson to play!
I see the whole Sam Jackson/Nick Fury thing mentioned here alot… In the Ultimate universe Nick Fury looks like Sam Jackson. And then in the Ultimate Avengers Cartoons he looks like Sam Jackson and I think Sam does his voice as well. And then here is Sam as Nick Fury in the Movie. I think Marvel may be leaning towards an Ultimates kind of plot here. In the Movie, Fury mentions the “Avengers Initiative”. That is straight from the cartoon version where the Avengers were formed by S.H.I.E.L.D and not by Cap and Iron Man as in the original. I see this going the same way. We’ll need a Captain America Movie and a Thor Movie, but Wasp and Hank Pym could be intriduced as supporting characters… UNLESS they just do a 2nd IRON MAN movie and introduce them all in that one. Just like the cartoon, Fury would form the Avengers Intitiative and they would all go take down the Hulk. Whataya think?
guys Nick Fury is a black guy only in the ultimate marvel universe, where, we know, lots of things just ain’t the same.
but its not the first time they switch a white character to black. see the kingpin in the ben affleck daredevil movie. that was pointless. here I think Jackson makes a perfect Fury. (Cmon, Hasselhoff was a shame!)
about mixing them characters in one film: I think its a brilliant idea!! I thought about it earlier, but thought marvel will never do it like in their comics because financially its not worth of it. hope they gona make it. who knows: avengers or civil war movie in a few years? :)
sorry for my weak english:)
the Avengers Initiative is also an ongoing comics in the “normal” (the 616, not the ultimate) Marvel Universe. Iron Man recruits and forms the first official super-hero team after the civil war which is led by his friend Rhodes the War Machine (who also had his cameo in thee movie). I like it a lot, but I guess Jackson_Fury refers to the Ultimate Initiative.
iron man will be in the incredible hulk, he work for the government as weapons maker so they will prolly hire him to make a weapon to catch the hulk, the only thing i cant figure out is if it is before he becomes iron man or not
Its probably after he becomes iron man. I think he might develop the hulkbuster armour in the next movie.
in the last scene in Hulk, Mr. Shark (ironman) appears and the way he says that they are forming a nem team, i’m guessing that he is already Iron Man.
Just saw The Incredible HULK and………………..spoilers……………………………………………………
you see Downey Jr. at the end but you dont see Nick Fury (Jackson).
You dont need to stay for the credits because there is no scene at the end like in IronMan
Apparently, according to my sister, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) appears after the credits of the Iron Man movie. If I had known that beforehand, I would have stayed in the theaters to see. My sister says she saw it though. You just see Nick Fury sitting on a couch saying something to Tony Stark. (I forgot what my sister said.)
i have seen iron man and i did not watch it right to the end but i saw hulk yesterday and at the last scene tony stark comes in to this bar that general ross is sitting in and he says i think we should join forces and general ross says something like whats your company or something and it cuts off before he tells him .me and my friends thought he would have said stark industries because near the start there is writing that says stark industries on the pc .
Hulk… Hulk speak… o.O
but yeah, watched hulk movie and was a bit surprised at how they did it… while I LOVE the fact that they are starting cross-overs in the Superhero-movie universe (I wanna see spidey/punisher crossover), there was one thing that confused me about the Incredible Hulk… is it a continuation of the Hulk movie, or a completely seperate (universe)movie? it looked to me like it could be explained either way…
completely seperate….most people new this probly why they didnt bother mentioning it….
There is going to be an avengers movie which will consist of Ironman The Hulk Thor and Captain America but before this Avenger movie Ironman 2 will come out which will introduce Thor then Thor gets his own movie and then Captain America gets his own movie Where they will all meet
That all sounds great…but Ed Norton and Downey Jr are both going to have to stay signed on for a while. You’re talking 4 movies before this Avengers movie. think about it also…can you picture a Thor and Captain America in todays society? Come on…they’d be better off bringing X-men, Hulk Iron Man Spiderman and Punisher or something like that…Daredevil…maybe…MAYBE a Silver Surfer and the Fantastic 4 and that would be sick….all up against something on the scale as that big dude Galactus or something.
But Captain America and Thor would be too hard to try and bridge that gap, in a today world. Those heroes were from LONG before us.
Oh, and John…it’s Mr Stark, not Shark…lol
Watch the end of the new hulk, tony stark is in it, he talks about puting together a team
(Type your comment here. Make sure you’ve read the commenting rules before doing so) i have seen both and Mr R.Downey JR is in both fantastic………
seen both films and they are fantastic….. stark is in both great twist
in the opening of hulk, BOTH Tony Stark and Nick Fury are listed in the graphics (in the form of Emails and other corrisponce at HIGH levels of govt’) so there is a trinkle of an insert for nick fury (have faster eyes fellas). As for him being played by MR jackson, sorry to say it but times change, when passenger 57 was gone the first time it was a white guy that still said “always bet on black” and when westley snipes said it in the REMAKE it seemed more fitting (to me anyhow). remember the times back then black super heroes where NOT common place and when they did come to be they were reluctant to be outside of that race/genre of people, i hope as a nation/people we have stepped beyond that.
It would be great to see the Avengers all together but, if it turns out as crappy as the fantastic 4’s first movie I’ll be disappointed.
Ya I heard they are gonna use a McCain look alike for Captain America LMAO!
