To Err Is Human, To Forgive Is Divine. But does forgiveness happen in this new-age love story when one of the partners commits a sudden mistake? Aarav (Laksh Lalwani) and Chandni (Ananya Panday) met at college, their love blossomed, and they finally got married. But their marital life took a turn for the worse as, in an argument, Aarav laid his hands on Chandni. Will Chandni be able to forgive her husband after such a humiliation? Or will this sudden mistake committed by Aarav in a fit of rage ultimately end in their separation?
Introducing Laksh Lalwani as Aarav and Ananya Panday as Chandni in “Chand Mera Dil”!
Co-written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, produced by Karan Johar, and directed by Vivek Soni, a unique romantic drama exploring the challenges of post-marital life glitters on the Bollywood big screens from May 22, 2026. Titled “Chand Mera Dil, translated as “My Heart Is Like The Moon”, the Hindi post-marital romantic drama features Laksh Lalwani a.k.a Lakshya and Ananya Panday as the couple in love and distress.
Underlying Love And Its Complexities — Chand Mera Dil (2026) Official Trailer:
The Good:

Chand Mera Dil (2026): When Love Turns Into A Conflict — Starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday
Initially, after watching the pre-release trailer, I thought Chand Mera Dil was yet another typical Bollywood love story. But the film proved me wrong with an engaging, emotional, and layered screenplay full of surprising twists that set it apart from a simple romantic drama. Expect the unexpected as the marital life of a happy couple takes a turn for the worse owing to a serious mistake committed by the husband.
Modern couples can learn from this story as it touches multiple important issues in relationships, such as accidental parenthood, childcare struggles, financial pressure, career anxiety, relationship exhaustion, family interference, and even divorce.
Lakshya delivered a stupendous performance with his action role in Kill (2023). Now, with his impressive screen presence and emotionally intense character in Chand Mera Dil, he has again “killed” it! He delivers several emotional breakdown sequences with strong, loud, and impactful dialogues. Ananya Panday’s acting is very mature and enduring, with heavy emotions that will leave you emotionally torn. Lakshya and Ananya have a very pleasing chemistry during the first half, before things get tense and strained between their characters.
The Romantic Track “Aitbaar” From Chand Mera Dil

The screenplay highlights a tremendous emotional intensity that will hook you till the very end. And the climax is just out of the box, which makes this romantic drama exceptional. Rather than a traditional fairy-tale happy ending, it relies more on the complexity of relationships, which blur the line between a neat happy ending and a tragic one. It depicts mature themes relating to the reality of adulthood, like self-discovery and growth. Rather than the usual perfection, the film concludes on an ambiguous and bittersweet note.
The visuals are elegant and stunning with beautiful color grading. The city of Hyderabad is one of the strongest elements in its cinematography. Unlike the usual urban backdrop seen in several Bollywood films, Chand Mera Dil’s cinematography has a refreshing vibe with modern college campuses, wide roads, lush greenery, and an enchanting urban atmosphere. Moreover, the title track and the romantic track “Aitbaar” are superbly melodious.
When Romance Transitions To Tragedy — Chand Mera Dil (2026) Official Teaser:
The Bad:

The screenplay, even if thematically enticing, appears a bit stretched out and illogical. The editing cannot be blamed here, because it was the problem of the script, which had certain shortcomings.
Ananya’s acting is sincere and enduring, but her character is hard to accept. Her character in Chand Mera Dil portrays an unforgiving attitude and serious stubbornness towards Lakshya’s character in the second half, which becomes a major turn-off point for the audience.
The female lead character, Chandni, is ridiculously unforgiving, unrelenting, and obstinate. I agree, Lakshaya’s character did commit the crime of slapping her. However, her unforgiving nature, which ultimately affected their marital relationship, will not be easy to digest for anybody who watches this film. Her rigidity will literally irritate the audience in the entire second half of the screenplay.
The Track “Khasiyat” From Chand Mera Dil

During a scene, Chandni’s mother tells Aarav’s family that the ordeal of a husband hitting his wife is not prevalent and acceptable in their family. Whereas, it has been clearly shown in Chandni’s childhood scene that her mother was physically abused by her father, who had ultimately deserted them. So, this excuse given by Chandni’s mother to Aarav’s family is untrue. Maybe the makers had missed out on revising their script.
Also, the script tries to show that Aarav comes from a dysfunctional family. However, upon watching this film, I never found any absurdity among his family members. Even, it has been shown in certain sequences that Chandni repeatedly apologizes to Aarav, while in her mind, she is unwilling to forgive him. What’s the point of showing this?! So, facts regarding modern families and marital relationships have been mentioned in the script, but it lacked the courage to logically present and fully explore them.
Such loopholes within the script could have been avoided if a more experienced and proficient director of romantic dramas was made to handle the making and presentation of Chand Mera Dil, who would have given its narrative a stellar shot.
A Love Story Worth Watching – Chand Mera Dil (2026):
The Verdict: A Well-Made Porridge Of Already Released Bollywood Romantic Hits!

Even if the climax is unpredictable and surprising, if you look at the script of Chand Mera Dil closely, you would find it to be a mixture of previously released Bollywood romantic dramas like Kabir Singh (2019), Thappad (2020), and Saiyaara (2025). You would come across very similar instances happening in Chand Mera Dil if you have already watched those three movies. So, the originality of the story diminishes here. Looks like the makers just wanted to display a porridge of several Hindi romantic dramas made so far.
Although the plot appears familiar to some extent with certain inconsistencies within the screenplay, I personally found this romantic drama quite engaging, with heart-touching emotions and unpredictable twists. This is a mature modern-age relationship story that portrays real-life incidents in love. Who knows, after watching many may relate it to their own love stories!
Is it okay to be possessive towards your partner? Well, if you are undergoing complexities in your romantic relationship, then you can explore these issues by watching Chand Mera Dil. You will not only get entertained, but you will also learn to handle the problems you are currently facing.
Overall, this romantic movie does create a shock value with its unexpected climax. To know what it is, hold your excitement and watch Chand Mera Dil at theaters near you!
