With one of the most controversial real-life political history dramas, Bollywood celebrates 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Titled “Aakhri Sawal”, translated as “The Final Question”, this Hindi film has been written by Utkarsh Naithani, co-produced by Sanjay Dutt, and directed by Abhijeet Mohan Warang. It features Dutt opposite Namashi Chakraborty as the leads, and made its theatrical debut on May 15, 2026.
Presenting Sanjay Dutt in “Aakhri Sawal”!
Aakhri Sawal (2026) Synopsis: Seeking The Truth With A Burning Debate Of Five Questions
The RSS is a major right-wing Hindu nationalist paramilitary organization in India, which has been alleged by various critics for indulging in Hindu extremism and supremacism. In Aakhri Sawal, Sanjay Dutt plays a college history department professor, Gopal Nadkarni, a supporter of the RSS. His ideology and support for the organization and its actions are challenged and questioned by one of his college students, Vicky Hegde (Namashi Chakraborty), in one of the most tense, intense, and heated direct-confrontation political arguments ever!

The Good:

Aakhri Sawal (2026): Featuring Sanjay Dutt (Left) as history professor Gopal Nadkarni, and Namashi Chakraborty (Right) as college student Vicky Hegde
Firstly, I would like to give my honest opinion from the film’s point of view, its making, presentation, etc. Aakhri Sawal relies on a strong narrative and a daring and provoking one, of course! The trailer of this political drama enticed the audience by portraying the film as an altercation between a college student and his professor with regard to RSS’ history, the beliefs that the public holds for and against the group, and the hardcore truth about its contributions, which the nation wanted to know. This ensured the drama was gripping right up to the very end, as the student posed five controversial and uncomfortable questions to his professor, who was an RSS supporter. The intensity of this heavy and verbose drama kept the thrill to its brim by creating an uncomfortable and tense atmosphere.
Aakhri Sawal (2026): Is This The True Story Of The RSS?

The lead cast has delivered powerful performances and carried out their respective roles with sincerity. Legendary actor Sanjay Dutt, as the professor, delivers a calm, controlled, and at times, an outbursting performance, whereas Namashi Chakraborty, as the college student, brings emotional intensity to the screenplay. We have felt the impact of Namashi’s negative character in the historical thriller The Bengal Files (2025). In Aakhri Sawal, he plays an inquisitive college student who stood against the ideology of his professor and breathes life into one of the most hardened discussions on Indian history ever. The impact was just tremendous.
The visuals were loud, aggressive, and emotionally intense with hard-hitting dialogues and chaotic moments. Some of the historical moments shown were actually created and amplified through VFX. Even with VFX, the historical scenes appeared very realistic. The editing was precise with no loose moments.
Feel The Heat With Sanjay Dutt in “Aakhri Sawal”!
The Bad:
There is a certain level of predictability in the script, as we are all aware that ultimately, the film will conclude in favor of the RSS. After so many years, veteran actress Sameera Reddy has stepped into the world of Bollywood films once again. However, I felt that her talent was wasted here as her role was reduced to giving seductive glances at the camera rather than making any impact. Even popular actor Amit Sadh’s character was highly underrated.
Now, reviewing from the political perspective. Aakhri Sawal does not appear to be a political drama but rather a propaganda advertisement of the RSS. This film has literally portrayed RSS as an organization of “saints” by brainwashing the general public into justifying its abrupt actions.

Those who have been sincere in their studies during their school days and have thoroughly read Indian history would know the reality of this Hindu extremist group. RSS never considered India as their country. These hypocrites want a “Hindu nation”, but the truth is, they never stood against the British. When the ruthless Britishers were torturing and killing poor Indians, they didn’t raise a word against those monsters. In fact, they acted as servants to the Britishers. And after 100 years, suddenly some random filmmakers come and make a political propaganda of them to brainwash us into believing that these guys are saints and working towards the welfare of the country? No! I just can’t support this!
Know what! RSS didn’t even accept the Indian National Flag till 50 years of Independence. This shows their level of patriotism towards the nation. Isn’t this an anti-national sentiment?
Also, it is not recommended that the public start worshipping Bollywood actors as Gods. Be their fans, but don’t start worshipping them to the extent that you would blindly believe anything they would say or show in their movies. Sanjay Dutt has indeed given a powerful performance, but his character? I mean, the actor who had portrayed himself as “Gandhi Bhakt” in Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), how come his ideology made a 360-degree shift towards the opposite party (RSS) as soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came into power?
The Verdict: A Political Propaganda For Psychological Slaves!

What are the audiences learning from this propaganda film? The truth of RSS, or are they just being brainwashed? Youngsters, older people, and even women are being influenced and manipulated by this movie after watching it. I mean, women? They must have forgotten the fact that RSS supports the “Manusmriti” patriarchal law structure, where they oppose women being independent and support the ideology of women being guarded and controlled by men throughout their lives. So, I literally felt surprised upon witnessing many women supporting the RSS organization after watching this film.
From the film’s point of view, it is a well-presented, aggressive, and intense propaganda drama. However, its theme is very much unconvincing and disturbing. It is more like brainwashing the audience into a one-sided story of the RSS and making them believe something that is far from the truth.
If you ask me, such a political film is not fit for a theatrical release. An OTT release would have been better. This is a kind of movie that would appeal to audiences who prefer heated courtroom dramas.
