“Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri”, TMMTMTTM, whatever! A tongue-twister indeed! It means, “You are mine, I am yours; I am yours, you are mine.” If this sounds nonsensical, wait till you watch this Hindi rom-com. It will take you on a roller-coaster ride to mediocrity.

Written by Karan Shrikant Sharma, produced by Karan Johar, and directed by Sameer Vidwans, TMMTMTTM hits the Bollywood big screens on Christmas 2025. The film stars Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, along with Neena Gupta as Kartik’s mother and Jackie Shroff as Ananya’s father.

Ray (Kartik Aaryan) resides with his single mother (Neena Gupta) in the US and is headed for a vacation to Croatia. Rumi (Ananya Panday) is also on her way to Croatia. So, they meet, become friends, and finally, their love blossoms in Croatia!

But things take an adverse turn when their love is about to be tested by destiny. Rumi’s father (Jackie Shroff) gets hospitalized suddenly, and she has to end her vacation.

The Good:

I have to be brutally honest here. Some people are going to watch TMMTMTTM simply because Kartik Aaryan has starred in it. Kartik possesses a masculine charm that appeals to the female audience, and he showcases an enduring quality in any film he does. So, even if he does some crap, his fans are surely going to watch him.

Some of the dance tracks, like the title track, are funky and electrifying. Other than that, this film can be described as a fancy dress show presented in a high-society romantic drama with sporadically forced emotions.

The Bad:

The storyline of TMMTMTTM is cringy, frivolous, and bizarre, as its title. The emotions portrayed will literally leave you irritated. I mean, what’s the purpose of this film? To spread awareness of reversing gender roles? For thousands of years, the custom has been that after marriage, the woman comes to her man’s house to stay with him for life.

Now TMMTMTTM seeks to entirely reverse this age-old tradition. It says, “Why should a lady always go to her husband’s house after marriage? Men should also become sons-in-law who stay at their wives’ homes.” I would want to tell the filmmakers that audiences won’t buy this unnecessary and illogical emotional melodrama. If you are so keen on reversing gender roles, then rewrite the future of this world as to how the opposite sexes should act in society and treat each other.

The Iconic Retro Track “Saat Samundar Paar” Remastered To A Disaster By Dharma Productions

In India, most married men treat their wives as “queens of their houses”. Will the filmmakers of Dharma Productions advise women as well that, after marriage, now that the tradition has changed and they are bringing their husbands to their houses, they should treat their husbands like the “kings of their houses”? Might be a tough task if you think logically. So, way to go in terms of logic, Dharma guys! This is a highly sensitive topic that can spark debates between those who agree and disagree with it.

The screenplay will appear as if a fancy dress competition of stylish and colorful casual wear is taking place. The visuals might be appealing, but this stretchy melodrama absolutely fails to engage the audience.

Moreover, the dialogues are cheap and cheeky. Some may find them humorous, but I have to make you aware that, in India, you will find such low-level dialogues written on the backside of trucks and autorickshaws. Also, the audiences are not pleased as the makers have spoiled the retro classic song “Saat Samundar Paar” by inappropriately remastering it.

Feel The Energy In The Title Track Of TMMTMTTM (2025)

Besides, TMMTMTTM is misogynistic, as it spoils the image of women. Women, especially older ones, have been shown drooling over Kartik Aaryan, who happens to be their sons’ age. Even the lead actress, Ananya Panday, has been literally shown drooling over him when he goes shirtless, showing his super skinny yet toned physique. What’s more, even Kartik’s mother’s character (played by Neena Gupta) has been shown flirting with an unknown uncle at a party. So, the female cast has no prominence except for drooling over men.

The Verdict: A Sloppy Melodrama Lacking Chemistry And Emotional Depth

Imagine you receive an attractive Christmas gift wrapped in a glossy and colorful package, only to reveal a packet of ramen inside. That’s what TMMTMTTM is like.

To be honest, this rom-com will only appeal to those who are drawn to contemporary and glossy romance stories. I mean, where is the true feeling of love? Everything that happens in this story is simply situational. You will keep searching for the “love” this rom-com had promised in its trailer. Surely, you won’t be able to find it anywhere till the end. The ending appears as a compromise rather than true love.

The story highlights the modern-day hookup culture. The hookup platform Tinder has been highlighted so much that you would feel that this movie has been sponsored by it.

The Romantic Track “Hum Dono” From TMMTMTTM (2025)

If you can sit till the very end of this disaster, you would start feeling guilty, as you would then be confused about what and how to feel. You may wonder, should you be feeling sorry for the love-bound couple, or should you be feeling depressed for watching this wastage of your precious time?

I don’t think this movie got directed at all. It may have happened that the director was too lazy to shoot and asked the cast to do whatever they wanted, and he just filmed their random actions. Jokes apart, it appears so!

But I must tell you, if you are fantasizing about a Croatian trip, then you must surely watch TMMTMTTM. It is because the background visuals and scenic beauty of Croatia are much more worth watching than its sloppy melodramatic screenplay. Most female audiences, who happen to be die-hard fans of Kartik Aaryan, who admire him despite his creepy smile and cheesy punches, are the ones who can and will go for this movie.
