Weekend Boxoffice Report January 7th-9th

Already two weekends into the new year and the Top 5 are still dominated by movies that came out in 2010! True Grit and Little Fockers trade ranks from last week and Season of the Witch stands in the middle of the pack with the shiny new lunchbox on its first day of school.

True Grit – $15,000,000 – 3wks
Little Fockers – $13,781,000 – 3wks
Season of the Witch – $10,726,000 – Opening
Tron Legacy – $9,803,000 – 4wks
Black Swan – $8,350,000 – 6wks

I am not surprised to see any of these 2010 titles illustrate some staying power over their boxoffice runs, but I had hoped for more from Season of the Witch.

Nicolas Cage is an odd cookie. When he does well, he kills it. When he doesn’t he just kills. I could see the hesitation, but the film still did make a good showing this week. I am seeing it tonight, so I will let you know how it works out for me.

What did you see this past weekend?

  1. I finally caught Deathly Hallows, just been busy as heck. Glad I got to see it on big screen, it was worth my wait.

Would like to see Season of the Witch next, hoping to catch it this week.
