Possible ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Spoilers

Now, those of you who read io9’s Morning Spoilers feature, know that it can be incredibly hit and miss as far as facts go, but I want to see what you guys think of this. Apparently a draft script is floating around the internet, and while usually this would make me call Bull, it does have some interesting features. Heres the brief synopsis
Via io9

* The assassin Deadshot is broken out of prison and brought to Gotham City
* Crime is way down in Gotham, and Batman has become more of a myth than anything else
* Batman has a Batwing-like aircraft called “The Wraith”, a rebuilt Wayne Manor and Batcave, and an EMP-equipped Batmobile
* Wayne Enterprises is struggling with competition (and a lawsuit) from Daggett Industries, and Lucius Fox feels he must turn against the irresponsible Bruce Wayne
* The villainous Black Mask has hired Deadshot and is working with Roland Daggett, although it’s unclear who he’s been hired to kill (probably either Batman or Bruce Wayne, of course)
* Edward Nashton has the Riddler’s name but Hugo Strange’s character, as he has figured out Batman’s identity and uses this to mess with the Dark Knight’s head
* Commissioner Gordon and a Detective Adams are heading up a taskforce to catch Batman
* Talia al Ghul makes a brief appearance

I don’t know… doesn’t seem like something Christopher Nolan would write to me, but I could be proven wrong. Seems to me like theres a lot of different characters vying for screentime…
I do, however, like the idea of a new batwing, even if i dont really think it’d fit in with nolans universe.
So, you beautiful commenters, what are your thoughts?

  1. i could see talia and deathstroke working in a “nolanverse” batman movie, they’re both realistic and arent over the top villains, talia hires deathstroke as an assassin to take out bruce/batman, deathstroke fails so talia takes it into her own hands to rid batman, end the trilogy with bruce coming out saying he is batman and thrown in jail or arkham, ending nolan’s batman franchise

    have a good one

    1. I always said that to make this a “real” trilogy (beside the fact that it is three films) is to go full circle with the first one and Talia avenging her father is the key to that.

Glad there.s nothing about Catwoman, if Talia is in there we don’t need her but a fight between the two would be kick ass. Talia is also a love intrest for Bruce Wayne in the comics but I doubt Nolan will go nito this for the last film.

I’d LOVE to see Black Mask on screen. Hugo Stange is kind of crazy but the real danger is that he knows about Bruce being Batman but Black Mask is just plain psychotic.

But there are too much names here, some of them will get really little screen time and some fans will be disppointed. Less is more in those films. The Batwing seems a little overkill also.

  2. im sorry, but being nolans #1 fan, I must say¦
When in the history of mankind has a nolan script EVER been truly leaked??

Inceptions synopsis summary was the most vague and basic with no details movie summary in every site before the release date. Why? No one knew about it. On IMDB the summary was like two sentences long.

Even TDK did a good job of keeping a great chunk if not most of it hidden before it came out.

Nolan doesn’t just make any movies, he really works hard to make quality shit. I’m 100% sure nothing, not a THING, will be spilled till 4 days after opening day. Not opening day because you need to watch his movies 20 times to get them… brain only uses ten percent of its intelligence. You need 50 for his movies.

  3. I think Nolan can do an incredible Cat Woman/ Selina Kyle type character. The Long Halloween is one of Chris Nolan’s favorite graphic novels, to which Selina has a nice relationship with Wayne. Batman and Cat Woman go back and forth quite a bit in this trade also. I can see her and a couple hints or references towards other, not so well known, characters. As for this, “spoiler list,” god do I hope Nolan wont attempt any of this. I can see a task force against Bats because of the ending of TDK. The whole technology aspect of these rumors leave me worried and hopeful that it is not ever touched in any Batman recreation.

  4. Don’t really believe it. Personally, I’d like to see Nolan end the franchise with a heavy hitter… Joker was so big. I need to see a Christopher Nolan version of Catwoman, Penguin, Poison Ivy, or even Mr. Freeze. I know most of them are not bloody likely, but I’m keepin my fingers crossed for one or the other. Not Riddler though… Too much like Joker.

  5. I think Slade Wilson is Deathstroke the Terminator not Dead Shot. Deadshot is Floyd Lawton. Deadshot’s been a Batman villain since 1950. I don’t think the public will be confused being that neither party is well known to the general public.

  6. Just remember guy’s….This is a 3rd installment and you know what happens with the 3rd one right?

    Just sayin.

    Spidey 3
    lethal weapon 3
    jaws 3-d

even Bat’s isn’t immune to the 3rd curse. (hope it’s good: for the record)

  7. 4 villains? Deadshot, Black Mask, Dr. Strange, AND Roland Dagget? I’m calling bullshit on that.

I think Nolan could make the Wraith work. After all the Batmobile did get destroyed in TDK. I don’t think its too farfetched.

    1. Perhaps, but as knossis said, he already has his cape which has helped him go across the air. The only way to do such a thing justice is air battles, which wont happen. Seems unlikely. I can imagine a new Batmobile is on the way though

      1. well, in comic Batman known to have a vast collection of batmobiles, so a new batmobile is a possibility, beside it still in the context of Nolanverse. Lucius Fox turn against Bruce though… i don’t think so. Never happen in comic.

    2. The last two fims had four villians.

Batman Begins= Scarecrow, Ras Al Ghul, Zsasz and Carmine Falcone.
      DK: Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Maroni

But youu’re still right. This would break that formula as thre are MORE than four foes to content with. It is possible this script IS legit, being ^^only a first draft** and just a genral idea of what they might be thinking.

      A word about Deadshot.
His function seems too close to that in the ‘Gotham Knight’ segment and I don’t think he’ll be used.

Wraith is out of the ballpark. Characer would take away from Hugo Strange and Black Mask – two characters who folks would rather see, especially the latter. Also, Strange with a Riddler alias has some interesing thought — but unlikely. Nolan and Goyer have given rather faithful adaptation to Bats thus far; they would not let that slip by. It’s either Hugo Strange or Nygma. There is no room for doubt.

The idea of Bats being ‘a myth’ is unlikely. MAYBE if this was ‘Dark Knight returns.

  8. Yeah, the Wraith wouldn’t fit in with Nolan’s Universe. Nolan explains everything, so where and when did Bruce learn to fly it. Why would he need it in Gotham when the Tumbler, Batpod and Cape have helped him traverse both land and air just fine up until this point. Dagget Industries?!! WTF! Lucius turning against an irresponsible Bruce Wayne?!! WTF! Lucius knows what Bruce is doing as Batman and he knows the “irresponsibility” thing is just an act so this goes against type. This move would ruin the relationship Lucius and Bruce have developed during the previous films. Ian I’m with you on this. I call BS.
