Pineapple Express Sequel?

Evan Goldberg has hinted that he might team up with Seth Rogan again to make a Pineapple Express sequel, but that the idea of a possible Superbad crossover has been shelved. According to NME

He (Goldberg) said: “We toyed with that idea right after Pineapple came out. We thought that people would enjoy McLovin and [James] Franco together – but we’re never going to touch Superbad ever again, that’s a terrible idea. I’m even hesitant to make Pineapple 2, but I’m loosening up to it as of the last few weeks.”

He added: “Everyone has always wanted to do it. Me and Seth were very hesitant, but frankly I was the driving force behind that hesitancy… great, great films don’t have sequels.”

Now, if this is true, I’m thrilled. I loved Pineapple Express so much, the characters, quotes, music, everything. James Franco needs to do more comedy. I don’t think a Superbad crossover would have worked, and as much as I loved those characters, going back would only ruin it. However, I hear NME can be unreliable with news, so we’ll see.
Any other Pineapple express fans here?

Thanks Dean for the tip!

  1. Just want to say your article is as surprising. The clearness in your post is simply great and i can assume you are an expert on this subject. Fine with your permission allow me to grab your feed to keep up to date with forthcoming post. Thanks a million and please carry on the rewarding work.

  2. IMO Superbad was a funnier movie than Pineapple Express. Dont get me wrong though, I loved PE. I would like to see a sequel to this, however with less Seth Rogen would be ideal. More Red, he is just damn funny in alot of the movies he stars in. Cant wait to see Your Highness.

  3. Dude am I alone in thinking that Pineapple express was great. I haven’t laughed like that since Half Baked. I love me some stoner films

I am trying to figure out if i am really high or dieing
Dude we should get you to a hospital you were shot like 20 times.

  4. I little high and mighty if the don’t want to make a sequel because they consider Pineapple Express a “great, great film”.

It was very enjoyable for me, but it’s no Jaws.

Which has three sequels, come to think of it.

    1. I dont know… It took them years to write Superbad, and it was based on their own experiences. Maybe they just don’t want to ruin it, I mean, I agree, its a fantastic film, but I’d say its just a personal story

    2. Same here bro, I anticipated Pineapple for months watching internet clips of scenes before it was released thinkin’ this is the next great stoner flick, only to be let down by the film as a whole.

Franco was AWESOME,Danny McBride was Great too BUT the overall pacing to me was hit and miss. Rogen was tiresome in this one.

some great one-liners but not enough to carry it to “Good” status.
the 1st 1/2 hour was fun then it got sluggish. even Red at the end couldn’t erase the stale taste.

in Weed speak: This was just regs (snikle-fritz) and not Pineapple express as promised.

Grandmas boy was a better Stoner Flick IMO
