Eli Roth talks Thanksgiving

The untapped resource that was the fake trailers presented in the Grindhouse films has already been tapped with Machete coming out. And now it looks like another trailer in the bunch may be adapted. That trailer is Thanksgiving.

Movies Online quotes Eli Roth:

I’ve been working on the script with my co-writer, Jeff Rendell, who plays the pilgrim in the trailer. And it’s me imitating Jeff’s voice [for the narration]. But Jeff has been working. I said that his deal is he has to work on the script while I’m promoting The Last Exorcism, and as soon as I’m done in mid-September he’s going to fly to California, we’re going to sit down, and bang out the script.”

Check out the fake trailer.

I suspect if they adapt it, it wont look so rough around the edges, but it will have that 70s style slasher feel to it.

Modern slashers just don’t seem to have the same edge to them. They have gone with shock and gore more than pure situational horror.

I’d really like to see what they do with it.

  1. Thanksgiving was my favorite trailer during Grindhouse. Perfect mix of humor and horror, well maybe I’m sick for laughing but either way I’m really happy to hear that Roth is committed to making this a feature film.

  2. No comments huh? Shit. I’m stoked. I say, make it look rough around the edges. Keep the grindhouse look and feel. Planet Terror was excellent in all of its on purpose screw ups.
