Weekend Boxoffice Report July 23-25th

Clearly this weekend was labeled as a bold place to open your film with the hotly anticipated Inception opening a week before, but Salt had the balls to open up against its leftovers. Oh and a feel good family film no one noticed.

Boxoffice Mojo delivers the estimates:

Inception – $43,505,000 – 2wks
Salt – $36,500,000 – Opening
Despicable Me – $24,100,000 – 3wks
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – $9,685,000 – 2wks
Toy Story 3 – $9,030,000 – 6wks

Looks like everyone who finally got around to Toy Story 3 have now decided to catch that other animated hit that people are talking about, and when they are done with that, the rugrats on summer vacation are resorting to The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

But the list tops out with Inception as Salt not surprisingly falls in second. Not the best film of the weekend, but the best new film at least. The sugarsweet Ramona and Beezus just missed the top 5 as the only other opener to even see the Top 10.

Inception continues to dominate seeing only a 30% drop from last week’s impressive draw.

What did you see?
