Jim Carrey joins Pierre Pierre

Seems Borat/Bruno director will hone his cultural stereotyping skills with the help of Jim Carrey as he sets to make a comedy of over the top obnoxious frenchman Pierre Pierre, transporting a stolen painting.

Deadline reports:

Larry Charles, who steered Sacha Baron Cohen through audacious comic turns in Bruno and Borat, is now ready to do the same for Jim Carrey. Charles has signed on to direct Pierre Pierre, a comedy that has Carrey playing the role of a Frenchman who transports a stolen painting from Paris to London, behaving more obnoxiously than any waiter you’ve ever encountered at Cannes.

So it looks like Jim Carrey is tired of trying to prove himself as a serious actor and is going to return to his natural zany comedy roots and likely spark riots and protests from the French.

I used to love Zany Carrey’s antics, but they got tired on me. It hasn’t been enough of a repreive yet to make me want to do that again.

Mark me down as less than enthused about the project until I see something that makes me laugh.

  1. wow I can’t believe how quickly people turn on you. guy was on top of the world and then the world swallows you. vicious. I still love the guy and still think he’s hilarious. didn’t like some of his serious movies but I never hated him for it. I’m happy he’s goin back to his wild self again. I count this as GREAT news.

P.S. I like the site. Looks awesome!

    1. I loved his serious roles, and I didn’t mind a hint of that zany Carrey in some of his comedy roles, but when he lays it on thick it just doesn’t have the same affect that it used to for me.

      PS. Thanks!
