Weekend Boxoffice Report April 2nd-4th

This weekend was all about Clash of the Titans. There was nothing else coming out this weekend for me. It’s Easter, and I had limited time that wasn’t family obligation so nothing else was going to divert my course.

Clash clearly was going to take the top spot as other studios steered clear of this weekend with their potential hits, and in stead its opening competition consisted of niche Tyler Perry film and a Miley Cyrus romance flick.

Boxoffice Mojo Reports:

Clash of the Titans $61,400,000 Opening
Why Did I Get Married Too? $30,150,000 Opening
How to Train Your Dragon $29,200,000 2wks
The Last Song $16,203,000 Opening
Alice in Wonderland $8,267,000 5wks

Still clinging to that top 5 spot is Alice in Wonderland, though I doubt it will be there much longer.

How to Train your Dragon (best film of the year so far) was squeaked out of that #2 spot by a Tyler Perry film? I am not a fan of Tyler Perry’s work at all, but I was VERY surprised to see this land a #2 spot with such a strong film in contention.

What did you see this past weekend?

  1. Clash…kinda bored me, but I loved How to Train Your Dragon. My husband and I went to see it twice in 3D and 2D and we don’t have kids. I am surprised about the Tyler Perry Movie, but to each their own.

  2. I actually went to go see Hot Tub Time Machine which didn’t even make it into the top five. I thought it was a pretty funny flick.

I was out of town for Easter weekend so I wanted to hold off on seeing Clash of the Titans until I was back at home and could see it at my favorite theater.
