Breck Eisner in talks for Escape from New York

The action flick Escape from New York has been teasing us with the remake word for a while now, but it looks like John Carpenter’s classic will still get remade, potentially with Breck Eisner at the helm.

Film School Rejects shares:

Breck Eisner is in talks to helm the remake, and if you don’t recognize the name then it may mean you made the mistake of not seeing the recent horror film The Crazies. That too was a remake directed by Eisner, and it was a damn good one. To be fair, the original George Romero-directed film is a stinking pile of meh. Carpenter’s film on the other hand is a classic and almost thirty years later is still entertaining as hell.

I agree with his assessment on The Crazies as I did enjoy it quite a bit. There are some paralells to The Crazies (escaping the city) and Escape from New York that I think Eisner would handle well. And I look forward to seeing Eisner take a shot at the cult classic character of Plisken as well.

But who is going to play Plisken. I thought Gerrard Butler would have been great at it but word says he has walked on this already.

Who would you like to see as Snake?
