Green Power Ranger to become an Ultimate Fighter

Former Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, Jason David Frank was one of the longest running cast members of the show. Starring as the Green Ranger, and subsequently White and Red Rangers in following generations.

Now the star of kiddie martial arts and rubbersuit badguys is all growed up and is taking the big step into Professional Mixed Martial Arts.

Worst Previews says:

“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” star Jason David Frank is now 35 years old and is training to become a full-time UFC fighter. The sixth-degree black belt in karate was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame in 2003 after developing his own style of fighting called Tose Kune Do.

I was kind of surprised to hear that one of the Power Rangers was actually an accomplsihed Martial Artist because it was clear that the Power Rangers were all trained martial artists…. or dancers.

And this might give a little positive light to the Power Rangers Alumni meetings after recent news had the former Black Ranger charged with drinking and driving and a guy who made one appearance in one episode of Power Rangers got the death penalty for murder and the media was quick to remind you he was on the show.

At least Amy Jo Johnson, the appropriately pretty Pink Ranger has gone on to bigger and better.

I wish Jason David Frank nothing but luck in the highly competitive and brutal sport of Mixed Martial Arts. Even without his Megazord to back him up.

  1. I met him when he came to my mall for a meet and greet in the 4th grade and I went with all the kids in my class. We were so excited to see him. He was soooooo cute!

Now…I saw recent pics of him and he looks really creepy. If you’re into WWE, you’ll get what I mean when I say that he looks like Batista now.

  2. I’ll have to watch some of his fights, I am a big fan of MMA. I guess I didnt put two and two together when I have seen his name in the arena.

I never watched any Power Rangers myself, I found it kinda a ripoff of the Japanese series Ultraman which was a favorite of mine as a kid.

  3. Wow, what a way to start the day. This is the best piece of news ever!

The guy looks like a total bad ass now; only good things can come out of this.

I hope he does do something Power Ranger-like in his fights, just for lulz sake. :D

  4. WOW, that’s just awesome, good for him. Glad to see being a Power Ranger didn’t destroy his career, unlike everyone else that was on that show.

He looks bad-ass now, such a huge change from his Power Ranger days. Interested in seeing his first fight.

  5. Last I heard Austin St. John appeared in a gay porno. I also thought it was the Blue Ranger (Billy) who murdered someone. Anyways, best of luck to Jason David Frank.

  6. Alright, not to nit pick (which I am about to do) but he is training to be an MMA fighter, not an Ultimate Fighter. There are other promotions besides the UFC, and the UFC is the pinnacle of the sport. I doubt a guy who is 35 years old and is more worried about getting an agent and management team together than scheduling a fight is on the right track, but we’ll see.

    1. And traditionally Karate guys get there butt handed to them by other styles( Lyoto Machida the exception), so best of luck. Wouldn’t it be great if he was good though?

      1. haha he is training with melvin guitard…guy is a hack mma fighter that has one skill….black top chop socky! come to san jose and learn at a real studio AKA!
