George Clooney Not The Next Jack Ryan

To date, 3 actors have portrayed the Tom Clancy character Jack Ryan. Alec Baldwin in “The Hunt For Red October”. Harrison Ford in both “Clear and Present Danger” and “Patriot Games”, and most recently Ben Affleck in “The Sum Of All Fears”.

Recently rumors surfaced that George Clooney was the next in line to portray the CIA hero. However, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has come out and shot down those rumors conclusively.

In speaking about the next possible Jack Ryan story, the producer confirmed that they have a script that is now in the hands of the studio and is gearing up for full development. However, in said script, George Clooney just doesn’t fit the part.

“It’s for a young Jack Ryan. I love George, but it’s not written for a man of his age. It’s written for a guy in his early 30s.”

So George Clooney is NOT our next Jack Ryan. No word yet on who would be at this point.

So with George out of the way, who could you see playing the character next?

  1. What stories are even left to do in movie form? Sum Of All Fears was a complete piece of shit.

I used to love his books.

‘Without Remorse’ would be a great movie, but it doesn’t involve Ryan.

Clancy is biggest sell out in history.

  2. Yeah. Young Harrison Ford, not old Harrison Ford. Young Harrison Ford would not fit the role.

Ben Afleck should do another one, he was pretty decent and had good chemistry with Liev.

But baring that, I agree, Steve Martin.
