Hitman 2 Finds a Writer

In the category of “Because No One Asked for it” it seems Fox is moving ahead on the sequel to Hitman and they have found their writer Kyle Ward.

Collider shares:

Fox is trying again and have brought screenwriter Kyle Ward (who also wrote the script based on “Kane & Lynch”, another videogame adaptation which mercifully hasn’t hit screens yet) on board for a new script based on the upcoming “Hitman” videogame due out in 2010, because if you need a great story, you can always look to videogames. The story would focus on 47 “building himself back up psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as the world’s most feared assassin.”

I don’t mind that they keep making movies based on video games. Perhaps it is my sadistic side that keeps hoping against hope that one day we will have a video game adaptation that doesn’t suck. Hitman wasn’t it.

Not that the premise wasn’t bad, but I just couldn’t buy Timothy Olyphant as a badass. Also strange since I just love his badass slightly unhinged porn producer in Girl Next Door. I was looking forward to seeing him do the cold calculating killer in Hitman and I just couldn’t get there.

So it only makes sense to have a movie about a professional killer who aspires to be well known.

Uh, is it just me or does that seem counter productive to a professional killer??

This is not off to a good start.

  1. i would rather have a different cick then megan fox in TF series….and yes if the person can act then it does matter….this story wasnt good enough for having just eye candy in it….Megan fox is horrible but she is not needed to act in the TF series cause the movie is about giant robots…not some severely hungry looking waif straddling a harley.

  2. I hope they recast 47 (most likely won’t) but goddamn it…who in the hell thought to put Olyphant in the role??? It feels like they blindly picked a name out of a hat, shaved his head and went ‘tada – 47’.

  3. Never saw Hitman so I can’t give impression on that film.

Did you ever see Max Payne, John? If so, what did you think. I thought it was okay. (Oops, slightly off-topic.

  4. only reason i would peek at this would be if Olga kurylenko makes a cameo, not star along side timothy.
sure timothy is a great actor an i love olga, but the movie hitman just doesn’t seem like it can get a more interesting storyline than before.agent 47 is emotionless,an sense its called hitman 2 an its not a reboot, then they have got to keep the continuity from the very sucky 1st movie. This should be canceled.IMMEDIATELY.

  5. I couldn’t even finish “Hitman” b/c it was sooo horrible, even the beautiful(yet can’t act)Kurylenko wasn’t able to save that film. If theyare making a sequel I just hope it alot better the the first, but I won’t hold my breath.

    1. Why is it lately that anything short of Academy Award contender acting is not worthy of being considered acting? Megan Fox can’t act, Olga Kurylenko can’t act, and so on and so forth. Really? The way I judge if a person can act or not is if they can act better than me… and I can’t act! Sure some actors may not be up to the caliber of other actors, but that does not mean they can’t act. Like any other job you have the top of the talent pool, the bottom of the talent pool, and everything in between. Just because there are other people in your profession that can do it better does not mean that you aren’t qualified to hold the title of that profession.

    2. Never said a person that can’t act can’t judge. Everybody has actors they consider to be good or bad. Just saying that because somebody is not the greatest actor in the world does not mean they can’t act. Don’t let looks hold you back, some of my favorite actors are ones you would not think have the looks to act: Steve Buscemi and Philip Seymour Hoffman to name a few. :D

    3. First to Matt:

I have to agree with Jeremy, they’re on the screen..we’re not. Sure they may not be great, but acting is acting..and some are better than others.

To the person who thinks they’re ugly:

Again, with what Jeremy said…there are a lot of actors out there who don’t have the best looks like Kal Penn (Van Wilder) or Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad). It’s not the looks that matter…it’s the acting.
