A while ago, I had mentioned that Victor Salva was in fact writing and directing a new direct to DVD installment in the ‘Jeepers Creepers’ franchise for MGM. It turns out now that the infamous director is eyeing for a theatrical release.

Moviehole.net gives us this:

The film, tentatively titled ‘Jeepers Creeper 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us’, “includes a prologue in the Old West and might bring back several characters from the first two films 20 years later. The script and story will be big on scares and give us plenty more of the traditional Creeper creepiness, with a few more bits thrown in about what it might be and where it came from”, says the filmmaker.

MGM had “suggested that we go direct to video with the third in the trilogy, but we hope that the exciting entity that the new MGM is becoming realizes that both ‘Jeepers Creepers’ films set [then-] records for their Labor Day weekend box-office openings, before each went on to make over $100 million apiece on DVD,” he tells Fangoria. “I believe a theatrical release is critical to this kind of success on video. I don’t think you can have one without the other, and it would be a shame not to be able to see what I have planned for ‘Jeepers 3’ up on the big screen.”

Now, although I feel conflicted on supporting this film, (Click HERE to find out why) I can’t deny that I’m a little curious to see what this man has up his sleeve for his upcoming plans for “The Creeper” and company. (a.k.a. VICTIMS)

I was not a huge of the sequel and thought it was disappointing compared to the original film. I thought the story was going to follow the original story.  I was hoping that the last image of Darry (Justin Long) getting his eyes carved out in the first film was really a premonition from the annoying psychic, and that Trish (Gina Phillips) was going to have to save her brother in the sequel.   Instead, we got a sequel about disposable characters, a thankless undead cameo from Justin Long, and gratuitous shots of shirtless guys to please the director.

However, if Victor Salva is bringing back characters from the series, I will be interested in seeing what he is going to do with the film. Although, I have to say that the ‘Old West’ prologue worries me a little. (Well, it can’t be any worse than the last scene from the sequel.)

I’m guessing this sequel will make it in the theatres instead of DTD, because he did have a point about both previous films breaking Labor Day weekend records.

  16. I wonder if the 3rd movie is gonna start off with creeper waking up in that barn from the second movie. Most of my friends HATE a western theme films. I agree. The only western theme movie that i like is Blazing Saddles. lol. i wonder if they need any walk on actors.

  17. I have waited for the 3rd ever since the 2nd one came out. Both of the movies were great. I think the second one worked so well because it didn’t just pick up with the same characters and continue. I can hardly wait to see where we are taken this time in the story.

  21. Jeepers Creepers is probably the best horror series created since Reanimator. The second film was an excellent sequel to the first and an incredible achevement for a new director. It doesnt matter who he is or where he’s from, we need more from him and more from the creeper. And hopefully we wont have to wait long.

  23. First movie was cool. Second I really liked since the unkillable bad guy really got his butt kicked! I loved that! Hope 3 has more smacking around of the bad guy! That really makes my day!

  40. well i just wanna say that if u don’t like the way victor salva wrote the movies then don’t watch them because alot of people like the way they are and wanna see what victor salva has up his sleeve! so but out if u don’t have anything good to say about jeepers creepers!!!!

  41. I for one enjoyed the original film. The sequal was not all that great because in my opinion, the creeper’s face shouldn’t be seen so much. The appearence should be a mystery to the audience. However i am anticipating the new movie. It would help future sequals obtain more views if the creeper’s history is shown. I’m sure most of the viewers of the previous movies want to know where it came from, how it was born, and if there are more creepers like it. It worked for the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. So i think that idea might help bring in more cash for the film makers of this movie.

    OH YEAH! BRING THAT NASTY CREEPER BACK! But be sure you also bring back the lovely GINA PHILLIPS so we can watch her bash the BUG with the BUCK FANGS. I’M VERY curious as to how they will deal with the Creeper’s origins. We’ve seen enough of what he can do – NOW WE WANT TO KNOW WHY, WHERE, and WHEN!

Everyone to see what happens when the sister try’s to save the brother and the police shoot it out with the creeper. MAN, come on guy’s, If George Lucas can jump back to the pass alittle so can you.   49. JEEPERS 1-2 WERE GREAT AWESOME MOVIES,I LOVED HOW THE STORY TOOK PLACE IN THE FIRST ONE IN THE WEST IT WAS THE PERFECT SCENE FOR THE STORY. THE 2ND ONE WAS EVEN BETTER.
    I HOPE A 3RD ONE COMES OUT…… :) :) :)

I really dig JC…. has u wondering what it is… then what is its sex….. really a good methodical movie…… I also feel on the other subject…. forgiving and forgetting are two different things…. as human beings and humans who should be morally conscience of what we say and feel….. we should always try and forgive a person for any wrong doing…. although the offense may even be completely unexplainable and horrendous….. forgiving is something we must all embrace… or we are no better than those who offend………

I from Philippines and here the JC 2 was being play on national television ah hour ago before my post here,.Many watch this movie all over the place,like me in the street i watch it..but many from is unsatisfied because the story didn’t end and we thought there will be a part 3.HOw i wish the part 3 will come s00n .I cant wait To see the next thing that will happen..G0 jeepers cReepers fanatic see,………. …………………………………………..

  60. I would love to see JC3 in the movie theater. The Creeper rates high with some of the best monsters ever. I loved the first Jeepers Creepers the best. I would love to hear the Creeper speak in JC3. It’s obvious he has some intelligence because he has a sense of style with his black hat and coat, not to forget his personalized license plate on that cool truck. I hope Victor brings all that back in JC3. Don’t make us wait too long.

  64. great movies. i agree with most jc1 was much better than #2 but i still liked #2 because the damn monsters so crazy. One of the best movie monsters ever in my opinion.

  69. Let us hope that JC3 returns to what made 1 excellent – comments here have pointed out those elements well. JC2 – watched then regret. Capture the mode and look of 1 again and there will be much rejoycing. Good wished to JC3 – we’re waiting…

  71. i would love to see the creeper again, but this time i think he has to have more involvement with the characters in the film.

    The whole killing everyone in sight thing has kind of worn off
    maybe they should take a leaf out of wishmasters book and involve him more with a few characters

  74. I would love if they had a another sequel but it have to beat the orginal. The second one was`nt all that great but it was a good movie. I would like to see the new sequel to be similar to the first but only more interesting. If they pick up where they left of, I am afriad the movie would not be all that great.

  78. I’m watching Creepers 2 as I type! Just watched Creeper 1 and can’t wait for 3!! We love these movies and would agree it would be nice to get some backgroud on the Creeper as we have debated about it many times.

I love old horror films like cult horror film night of the demon with dana andrews and jeepers 1 for me is in that class. Jeepers 2 is ok but for jeepers 3 lets get back to the creeper being spooky again and this film could be another classic.

He was sentenced, served his time, released, and now is out there trying to make a living just like the millions of other people who have committed a crime, fulfilled their sentences, and are now living productive lives. The reality is that this is a matter of homophobia and nothing more. Every time Roman Polanski releases a film, there is no such outcry. And that’s a man who fled the country as opposed to dealing with the consequences. You all really need to learn to separate the art from the artist, and stop declaring yourselves as moral referees. Who is to say that molesting children is worse than dealing drugs to children? Yet, self-proclaimed former crack-dealers like 50 Cent are put on a pedestal, while this guy can’t even make a DTV movie without everyone getting their panties in a bunch. Personally, I want to see good movies regardless of what these people have done in their lives. This story is so redundant and un-newsworthy that it’s absurd it keeps getting brought up every time Salva directs a movie. This will be the last time I come back to this self-righteous website.

    Brent, If your talkin about the movie with Nick Nolte, I saw most of the second half on television, but not all of it. From what I saw, I guess the lesson would be, DOn’t give up on second chances.

    However, this is a nonforgivable crime.

  87. I have to admit the Jeepers Creepers franchise isn’t all that bad. I know the sequel wasn’t that good but it had it’s fun moments. The first was enjoyable too even with the bonehead moves made by the Justin Long character. However having said that I do enjoy Justin Long as an actor and usually find him good in almost any movie he is in and he was good in Creepers 1 as was his female co-star.

    If a Jeepers Creepers 3 does come out in the movie theater I would catch a matinee at 6.00 but I wouldn’t pay the usual 12 to see it during prime time. Of I would wait for the DVD. Actually I hope it comes out on DVD first. I find watching it home on my HTS with friends would be a lot of fun!

  88. I understand what your saying about him . But after watching Peaceful Warrior (which I really and truly believe everyone should see) I feel that he has definitely changed and realized what he did was wrong and that he can’t be forgiven for it. Hard to explain I know but if you see the film it makes sense. I honestly haven’t seen any of the movies besides peaceful warrior. But they look interesting and I might check them out.
