Hayden Panettiere to star in ‘I Love You, Beth Cooper’

For those of you that get excited to see Hayden Panettiere dressed up in her cheerleading outfits in ‘Heroes,’ prepare to have more images of her to add to your “spank bank.” The “Heroes” actress is in talk to appear in the teenage comedy, “I Love You, Beth Cooper” as (surprise, surprise) a cheerleader.

Yahoo!News gives us this:

Panettiere would play Beth, the school’s hottest cheerleader who shows nerdy valedictorian Denis Cooverman the best night of his life after he proclaims his love for her during his graduation speech.

When I initially heard this news, it didn’t really appeal to me. However, Chris Columbus is also in talks to direct this film, and although I don’t like everything he has directed, I don’t think he would just take on just any generic teen comedy.
It seems like Hayden is looking for a top billing role, which is perfectly fine to me. She has an upcoming ensemble film coming out called ‘Fireflies in the Garden’ which also stars Ryan Reynolds, Julia Roberts, and Willem Dafoe.  So as long as she’s doing projects like that as well, I think it’s only a matter of time, that people will take this young actress as a serious actress. ( Just don’t pull a ‘Lindsay Lohan,’ Hayden! :P)

So what are your guys’ thoughts on this? Would you see this film? Do you think Hayden Panettiere has what it takes to become an A-list actress, but more importantly, WHO MISSES ‘HEROES?’ :P

  1. first of all. I can’t believe you said “Spank Bank” hahahaha. soooo un-girl like. But that’s cool Anyways, this girl is bangin. I miss Heroes and I miss it for what the FIRST season was like, not so much the second season.

  2. shes pretty but she is a terrible actress. but thats par for the course with heroes…..the acting on heroes is diabolical. on the first season I didn;t mind it so muc…it was bad but the story was enough to keep me interested. this past season..well I gave up about 5 episodes in because when there is no story all you have is the acting and it is fucking terrible.

  3. Chris Columbus. HACK. He’s why the first two Harry Potter films are so average. He’s why Rent tanked as a film. He’s such a mediocre director. His name attached to the project gives me no hope for this one.

  4. Loved the book and I think she would be great as Beth. It doesn’t require much “acting”. What worries me is that a lot of the humor in the book stems from the narration. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out on screen.

  5. Okay, as a Mo — I have to say that she is pretty hot. Do I think she has what it takes to be A-list, huh… I think she needs a little more experience, however this could be a good movie for her to start that journey.

I think she has done well in what she’s done so far, but Heroes has more than just her in the lead so we don’t, to my knowledge, have much to base that on. I have never seen her in anything else.

I wonder if being a cheerleader again was the smartest thing, but as I say that I realize it might be wise — all those guys and some girls wishing they were Milo…

  6. Yeah, she’s charming, but I could do without her in Heroes.
Her character, like some others, is too obviously included in the mix to attract certain demographics: male virgins and old pervs.

  7. I’m sorry I love Hayden, but her acting really isn’t up to much… by the end (hiatus?) in this series of heroes, I could barely watch her on screen. However, that said, quite a lot of it might have been down to the terrible story she got… but I don’t really see too much potential for any of the heroes cast bar Milo and Zachary Quinto.

That said, I love heroes and the cheesy over-acting is part of it’s charm (most of the time)

  8. Having read the novel this movie was based on, I believe Hayden would be PERFECT for Beth Cooper. Denis is a bit harder to cast, but I can imagine they’ll try to get Michael Cera. If it were a few years ago, Shia Lebouf would be tailor made for it.
