Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis in new crime action movie

bruce ad sam.jpgSamuel L Jackson and Bruce Willis joined forces again in the new crime flick Black Water Transit also starring Kevin Bacon, James Franco and Sophie Okonedo. The people over at movieweb.com give us this:

Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson are set to star in “Black Water Transit,” a Doug Richardson scripted adaptation of the Carsten Stroud novel that will mark the feature directorial debut of Samuel Bayer. “Black Water Transit” follows the divergent agendas of criminals, cops and lawyers as they collide over a shipment of illegal firearms and a double homicide. Willis plays Earl Pike, a criminal who tries to get his family’s illegal gun collection to a safe haven. The film is targeted to go into production February 12 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This is great news. First off I’m just glad it’s a movie that isn’t a remake or a sequel or a prequel of anything else, it’s an adaptation from a very successful novel which bodes well for the storyline.

I was worried about the director Samuel Bayer being so new, until I read his profile, the guy is totally hands on, has fifteen year experience and directed some of the most amazing and influential music videos ever, Nirvana’s Smell’s Like Teen Spirit being my personal favorite.

This movie feels like a win, with Willis and Jackson in a cop movie again I can only imagine all of the Die Hard 3 fans walking on air today. I love too that WIllis is going against his usual choice and playing a man on the other side of the law. What is it about these two particular guys that works so well on screen? They have a fantastic chemistry, and they seem to always match each other’s energy in the scenes that they do together, the status is constantly swinging like a pendulum.

Aside from the surface difference these guys are quite similar, in age; Willis is 52 Jackson is 58, they are both tough guys actors who indulge in sarcastic humor, they are physically fit and most important they have a strong presence on screen. True Willis usually leans more towards playing the good guy where Jackson indulges in the dark side a bit more often, but even Jackson’s bad guy characters are never really evil, they have reason for doing the things they do.

I am eagerly anticipating the first trailer for this movie. All of the signs are here for a very entertaining movie.

  1. Looking forward to this one.

The chemistry between Willis and Jackson was the best thing about Die Hard With A Vengence, and I have been awaiting a project that teamed these two up again.
The premise is a little vague so I’m not quite sure what to expect yet but I’m eager to find out more.
