Garrett Hedlund Leads Tron 2.0

Tron 2.0 is screaming forward like a lightcycle, however aside from all the returning cast we still don’t know who will be sucked into the computer this time around. Until now.

Looks like Garrett Hedlund will be the next fish out of water to visit the world of Tron and his friends inside the machine.

/Film says:

Disney has finally announced the lead star for their upcoming Tron sequel. Garrett Hedlund, star of such films Friday Night Lights, Eragon, Georgia Rule, and Death Sentence, beat out Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine and Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield) for the role.

I have long said that Tron was due for an update. Remaking Tron wouldn’t have the same punch, it had to be a sequel.

With the technology of the world changing so fast stories like Tron get left behind and become dated. Computers just are not like that anymore. So its a natural evolution of technology and the great stories told revolving around technology that could best find a new audience today. Evolve the tech, evolve the story.

I hope Hedlund does this justice. He already has some notable works in his resume and this could be a solid role for him.
