Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Video Game Release Pushed Back

Harrypotter-1The EA Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game adaptation will be pushed back to match the film’s new release date of July 17, 2009. We get the following news release thanks to our friends at comingsoon:

Electronic Arts Inc and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today confirmed that the “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince™” video game will be released globally Summer 2009, alongside the Warner Bros. Pictures’ film based on J.K. Rowling’s sixth Harry Potter book.

Well this is no surprise. They always want to tie the releases of the film and game together; if the movie gets bumped, the game will follow.

Moving the release date of the film was incredibly lame, and no good reason has ever been given. Perhaps they are gambling that a July release date will bring in more money. That may be the case, we will find out soon enough – but the fans are certainly unhappy about the decision. I wouldn’t consider myself a die hard fan of the series, but I enjoy the films and was quite pissed to hear the news myself; I was looking forward to seeing it this year.

Maybe with this extra time they can make an actual video game based off a movie that doesn’t suck.

Gary, obviously they’ll bother. They’ll get money for it! All Warner Bros care about is money.
