Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer

Posted by on 30. 07. 2008in News Chat

They’ve just released the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince trailer and I’ve got to say I’m VERY impressed with it. Everyone knows I’m not the worlds biggest Harry Potter fan, but this trailer takes the film from being just another silly yet fun Potter adventure and makes it look like a bloody film I really want to see. Completely unlike any Potter trailer I’ve ever seen. Very nice.

What did you think of it? Are you looking forward to this one?

it seriously looks like a horror film practically. love how it centers on voldemort and you dont even see the trio! amazing trailer cant wait!

  2. Anders says:

    awsome

  3. Mozzerino says:

Well for a Harry Potter-movie there’s hardly any Harry Potter in this trailer isn’t it?
I like it very much as well though. The trailer has a pretty dark vibe and I hope the film does also. This is the right way to do this.

  4. alfie says:

Its the best of the books so hopefully that will translate to the screen….

but I don’t remember gandalf being in it??;P

  5. Max says:

I gotta agree, I gave up on both the books and the film after the second, but damned if this didn’t peek my interest.

  6. tkt says:

    looks preety good.

  7. Neurmit says:

You have to hand it to JK Rowling for not re-writing the same childish boring stuff in every book. He stories literally evolve and become darker and more complex in every book. Kudos to the directors for “apparently trying” to do the same thing.

  8. Paul says:

I read this book and i thought it was utterly brilliant and i think they have done well with all films i just hope they can do with this film but i am not worrying because that trailer kind of proves it lol.

  9. Rodney says:

Holy crap that was dead on with the book. This is my favourite book of the series because it goes into so much of Riddle’s past.

However, did anyone else think this scene looked a little X-Men ish??

Come to my school Tom. Its for people who are different. I am different too. =display of power=

And the younger Dumbledore did look a little bit like Ian McKellan

  10. kiyo says:

    nice. very nice

  11. spence says:

    that makes me happy…….love it

  12. MechoPower says:

Wow…That looks really awesome!!! I am still wondering how they are going to translate that whole book onto screen (not the entire thing, but what they are going to film and leave out). I love how the movies are getting darker just as the books do.

  13. Jon H says:

The last Harry Potter film was the only decent one out of the bunch. Looks like this one might be fairly good as well.

I’m not a big fan of the whole exploring Voldemort’s past angle so I’m hoping it won’t take up as much of the screen time as this trailer would suggest.

  14. Ramsey says:

Wow, I did not expect it to be like that. So dark. This was a great book (plot-wise) in the series and it looks like the movie is going to be the same. The ending is going to rule.

  15. Jason Angel says:

well duh, of course he didint fucking know! or else he wuldve just left him alone!

    but this trailer does rock!

  16. Obi-Wan Kubrick says:

HBP is maybe my favorite HArry Potter book and I hope this movie is long than the last movie. Prisoner of Azkaban is still the best potter movie. I think the director of movies 5 and 6 does a good job at least. Just make the film closer to 3 hours please.

  17. emilyk says:

Yes! Awesome trailer! That captures the tone of the book perfectly. Can’t wait for this!

  18. Orren Jensen says:

Harry Potter is not a little boy any more. The book went from a children’s fiction to more of teen fiction or even young adult fiction. I think this trailer reflects that, which bring my excitement for this film to another level.

I agree with Obi-Wan Kubrick it should be a longer film. This film should have at least the same running time as The Dark Knight, if not longer.

    @ Jon H

I don’t know if you have read the book but a good chunk of it was spent on Harry looking at Lord Voldemort ‘s past aka Tom Marvolo Riddle.

  19. AnnOra says:

JOHN, I am converting you into a Harry Potter fan!

This trailer is AWESOME! HBP was also my favorite book of the series… and I think it is pertinent to look back into Tom Riddle’s past in order to set things up for Deathly Hollows… and the more and more they delve into the past of the characters, the darker it must become…

BTW, that was Ginny in the wheat field, right?

I’m so excited! Thanks for posting this John!

  20. AnnOra says:

BTW, there’s going to be Quidditch in the film!

  21. Phil Gee says:

I love how it plays so differently to all the other Potter trailers and now i’m not concerned so much about the film anymore (as opposed to the last few weeks when I was wondering where the hell the proper trailer and poster were).

My only question would be why this wasn’t attached to TDK?

  22. Meli says:

I love the trailer and it was worth all the waiting. I cannot wait till Nov – let the countdown begin!!!

  23. Kristina says:

I’m with Phil. Why didn’t they attach THIS to TDK in IMAX rather than that bullshit fifteen second garbage?!

  24. Carrie says:

    Yes oh god yes

  25. Darek says:

I’ve been flippin’ looking foward to this ever sence i saw the last one. i havn’t read the books though because i don’t want to spoil the movie expieience. But i’m very intigued to see all about how voldemeort became evil. kinda like how i was intigued to see hwo Anakin became evil. But Voldemort does seem to be waaaaay darker then Anakin as a child.

  26. Dragonslayer says:

Saw it on AOL,…and it looks beast. Shame it’ll probably get an R rating for sexual content and drug use. And I wish Del Toro could do the 7th and 8th film. It’s like the turn to the dark side (hums Imperial March).

  27. Sean says:

Why wasn’t this put in front of a movie first
Oh, well. I love how it almost feels like a mini prologue as apposed to just a regular old teaser trailer.

  28. Lo says:

    That trailer looks amazing.
Time to go to the dark side.

  29. Tira says:

Oh man. This is my least favorite of the books and I’m so bummed they brought Kloves back, but this looks outstanding! And when did Ginny get hot? Nicely done. (I’m guessing that’s the new scene at the Burrow.)

Also, the snarling guy after we see Harry running through the field. Could that be Fenrir?

  30. DAVE says:

Yeah. Very cool. Not a Harry Potter fan, but I might see this.

  31. Alexis Adams says:

Looks Great!!! I can’t wait to see the movie. I will be there with all 4 of my kids, my dad, my husband, and my little brother
