OH MY GOD! It’s time for an avengers movie finally. And I must say SLJ looks kickass with the eyepatch, did anyone see if he has the scars he does in the comcs?

Why oh why couldn’t they have put it in the movie before the credits. I really really hate post-credits scenes. Credits are ten minutes long. I’m not going to sit there for 10 minutes when it’s 11 PM

I just came back from the film and nothing beats watching the rest of the audience pile out of the theatre only to see you sitting there still and realising there must be something to stick around for and sitting back down.
I got spine tingles from it; this whole film was a beautiful gift to geeks everywhere.

This isn’t a spoiler. It’s not in the movie, it’s after the credits and it was already reported everywhere days ago that SLJ pops up after the credits. John didn’t say what was in the clip, you had to watch it yourself, so don’t blame him.

to be fair, he did say “spoiler”. it’ not like john didn’t warn you. i’m glad he showed that to be honest as i missed it in the cinema. cheers john!

Sam Jackson as Nick Fury??? Noooooooooo. Nick Fury is a white dude.
That’s like them casting Nicole Kidman as Storm in the X-men movies.
Comon Marvel..stop it.

Hey Digital Drew,
Ummm… with all due respect dude, we’ve been (and so has everyone else) talking about how Samuel L Jackson makes an appearance in Iron Man for almost a year:
http://www.themovieblog.com/2007/06/samuel-l-jackson-is-nick-fury-in-iron-man
So saying “Samuel L Jackson is in Iron Man as Nick Fury” is in no way a spoiler. Not by a long shot.

I didn’t stick around, I figured if there was anything i could just check it out online.
Wasn’t Hulk/Banner suppose to be in this movie?

If he was, I missed it. I think they are supposed to share a common scene, but I don’t know if that meant that we saw Ironman and Hulk on screen at the same time (or Tony Stark and Bruce Banner), or maybe we see a scene with support characters. Maybe Bruce runs past the charity dinner thing that Tony crashes. I’m not really sure because I missed the tip off. It might be something that we won’t recognize until we see it in Hulk.

The Tony think in Hulk is him talking to Gen. Ross, I would have to assume it would be something akin to this scene but with Stark doing some recruiting.

Why post that? There’s one thing to tell people there are spoilers, but puttin up the video of what’s at the end? Just tell people to wait until the end of the credits.
And if you’re not willing to wait the piddly 5 minutes it takes to see the names of the people who made the film, if you’re constitution can’t hold up for those 5 minutes, then hey, I hope a miracle cure comes out for you soon and in the meantime, go back to the hospital and read the frakking Secret.

The ticket taker at the theatre asked me if I was a “Marvel fan,” to which I replied “hell YEAH!” and he told me to stick around after the credits, which I already knew.
Pretty ballsy of Marvel to start setting up for an Avengers movie this early. It was weird seeing Jackson as Fury, since they draw Fury as him in the Ultimate line. It was like he stepped right off the page of the comics. Can’t wait to see more of him as Nick Fury. Maybe he should get his own movie.

@ everyone that asked this question!!
“why are you showing this video rather then telling us to watch it in the movies John?”
BECAUSE people have been staying after the credits and they got nothing so now they can watch it here!! and you cant go directly into youtube and look for it there because theyll show “ironman” in the tittle and the contencts will be “2 girls one cup” cuz stupid people do that in youtube.

Geez, why are people complaining that this is up? You’re all the ones who read it when you were fully warned, if you didn’t wanna see it then you shoulda navigated away from the page.
I for one appreciate it, because I couldn’t be arsed to stay after the credits. Also, Nick Fury is black in the Ultimate Universe and was specifically designed after Sam Jackson. Now I’m not one for all this politically correct diversity stuff, but hey, better Sam than Hasselhoff xD

How dare Timothy Dark say that Nick Fury is a “White Dude!!!” Hello, are you stupid, Nick Fury was originally caucasian in his 1st appearance in 1963!! Since then Marvel Comics has released the Ultimates series which portrays Nick Fury as Black and more agressive!!! SLJ will do great as fury, as he always DOES!!!! PLEASE Know your history before commenting!!!!!

Props. Its good to see people blogging up SLJ positively, I have to say that he was born for the part of Nick Fury, as was Robert Downey for Tony Stark. I stayed after to see it and pretty much ended jumping out of my seat and cheering (not lying) can’t wait for an Avengers movie.

Im sick and tired of these mother trucking snakes in my mother trucking S.H.I.E.L.D. …… no why…. SLJ is not Nick Fury.. we are talking about one of the most underrated comic characters of all time.. and they throw SLJ in there cause he is the “Ultimate” crap stuff.
This is one of the reasons why people aren’t into comics anymore they go and change a good thing.
The better choice would have been to get David Hasselhoff to play Nick Fury again… I mean come on…how could SLJ have light brown hair with those awesome grey hair sides…nope a bald Nick Fury?!?! I’ll watch “the Avengers” movie or it will probably be “Ironman 2″ since I believe Ironman was the one who recruited Nick Fury not the other way around. oh well good luck with the story explaining how nick fury lost his hair, got a dark tan, and good luck telling Jack Fury (Nick’s Dad) that he’s been black the whole time, Mrs. Fury has got some explaining to do.
on a better note, Ironman was awesome, saw the bonus ending, can’t wait. I’m ready to see a Captian America movie, maybe a Flash movie, and wholeheartedly and greatly anticipating a Green Lantern movie.
black nick fury…. geez…thats like making the incredible hulk red..

Okay, Nick Fury is WHITE. Has always been, will always been.
Ultimate Nick Fury is BLACK. Ultimate Nick Fury = Shaft.
We don’t need another Shaft.
The reason that SLJ was ‘born’ to play Ultimate Fury is that the characters looks were (with permission) based directly off Jackson.
So I guess that’s the nail on the coffin of the Fury movie actually being good, I was hoping for some cool spy action, but now I guess it’s going to be a crappy Shaft clone.
Great.

A really ballsy move would have been to cast Fury as he is (and always has been ever since Sgt. Fury and the Howling Commandos and into his early 60’s 007 “copycat” mag, NF, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.) in the mainstream line of Marvel’s comics: a white guy.
The Ultimate thing has been fun at times, but it’s played out. Why mix the two genres?

I’m just getting tired of white parts being replaced with black actors for the sole purpose of Hollywood’s PR push for equality……..movies like Cat Woman, The Nutty Professor, Doctor Dolittle, The Honey Mooners……. were recasted with black actors and actresses for the sole reason of getting Hollywood’s Public Relations with the black community in better standings, and possibly the simple wow factor. Not to mention casting a black man in XXX- State of the Union after Vin Diesel turned them down to do a part 2. White actors get white parts…. (Nick Fury, The Thing, Cat Woman)……. Black actors get Black parts (Blade, Spawn, whatever)……… if their aren’t many good black parts to play, tell black people to start writing their own comics or ask Marvel/DC to make more black characters. And if another white part show made movie like “The Odd Couple” is remade with an all black cast I’ll really be pissed off. If a black movie can not be about gang bangers (American Gangsters, Dangerous Minds) or sterotypical black neighborhoods (Barbershop, Friday) or break dancing (Save the Last Dance) then they should learn to be more creative and original and not leech off of well made- intelligent Caucasian movies…….. like, the Nutty Professor………. Lastly, this Nick Fury being played by Samuel L. Jackson is just a joke to me…. he’s a great actor, but like I said, I’m getting sick of this white part being filled with black actor bit…. not for the reasons of race, but for the reasons of straying from the original design because it may seem more publically friendly to fill a major part with a black actor. If their aren’t any really good black parts or not many of them, make them, don’t just steal white parts.

The only white Parts and the ones strewn over the middle east after and RPG hits their convoy. Black people don’t want those parts, but the buzzards do.
If you like being a racist, then I like being a saddist.

To Diegoheavens:
Not to argue with your opinion, but just to pass along a fact you missed:
Vin Diesel IS BLACK.
Actually, he is of mixed race–but is “black” according to current societal standards (and apparently to yours, too, since you listed Halle Berry [catwoman], who is also of mixed race).

There is a lot of racial tension going on here. David Hasseloff as nick fury again? think about that… david hasseloff… and honestly, its not that serious. guys take it easy plz. suppose this man plays the best nick fury ever. i’m sure marvel thought about this since they are the ones doing their movies now. they did a good job with ironman, i’m sure they will do a good job with ironman 2. just relax and enjoy the movies. It’s always about race? When are things gonna change……”

and the guy above me was referring to the other guy that spoke about xxx. he said that they cast a black guy b/c vin diesel wouldn’t do part 2. which still doesn’t make sense, b/c like u said vin diesel is “black”. but its not like they said that ice cube was suppose to be vin diesel. just seems like your upset. this is what u do… become a politician and try to get rid of affirmative action, and try to instill more racism into the country. b/c your pretty much saying that you don’t want black super heroes. I guess blankman, storm and that lightning guy from the old justice league cartoons are the only black superheroes.

Wow, what’s is the big deal really? If the actor can pull of the role then good for the actor; it shouldn’t be based on the color of their skin. That’s just crazy.
When I think of Nick Fury, sure I think of a gruff white guy because that is how I first saw him in the comic books. However, I don’t have a problem with Samuel L playing him.
This is like the whole James Bond doesn’t not have blonde hair when Craig was cast. Sheesh.

I am looking forward to when there is no black parts/white parts.
In fact I believe that it was in the 17th century that women were even able to be in plays. So prior to that time male actors played male & female roles. Look at the old western movies, there was a bunch of white guys painted as indians in most of those movies.
If an artist be them a singer, actor ,writer ect, has the ability to make us believe in what they are trying to get acoss, then that is ALL that matters.

BRONX BOMBER
ITS SO SAD THAT THE MAJORITY OF COMMENTS HERE ARE ABOUT NICK FURY BEING PLAYED BY SLJ…THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS…THERE ARENT MANY ACTORS…BLACK OR WHITE WHO ARE AS GOOD AS SLJ…AND THIS IS MARVEL’S MOVIE AND IF THEY CHOOSE TO CAST SLJ THEN THAT IS THEIR CHOICE…ALL YOU CRYBABY GEEKS WHO ARE UPSET AT SLJ PLAYING NICK FURY SHOULD JUST SKIP THE MOVIE AND GO OUT AND TRY TO FIND A GIRL…CAUSE THATS WHAT MOST OF YOU REALLY NEED!

Well said BRONX BOMBER!!!!!! I’ve been following Marvel comics for some time now and this new “black” Nick Furry has been the best nick furry they’ve every had. Not because he’s “black” but because he’s a better portrayal of the Nick Furry character!!!
I know none of these “black nick furry haters” had anything to say when white christains portrayed Jesus as a white man, despite the bible explicitly describing him has having bronze skin and hair of wool. Not even middle easterners have hair of wool. If race truly doesn’t matter to them then they would portray Jesus as described by the Holy book itself. But nooooooooo.
Fuck the black nick furry shit, a better character is a better character, period.

(Type your comment here. Make sure you’ve read the commenting rules before doing so)That’s right! Who in their right mind would be upset with SLJ taking on the role of Nick Fury. The man is badass, and I don’t look at him as a “black actor”, he’s just a damn good “ACTOR”. If you can’t get past the black and white, then maybe your just BLIND! Grow TFU already, you racial terds. Hope you blow your head off when you see Green Lantern played by a “Black Man” dumbasses!

I will admit that the thought of Jackson as Nick Fury kinda weirded me out, but he is an execellant actor, an icon of cool. He might just be able to pull it off. I’ll have to wait for the movie to have a real opinion. When I heard that Robert Downey jr. was going to play Ironman, I cringed and rolled my eyes. But boy oh boy, did he rock my panties off. I was never a big Ironman fan but thanks to the movie, I will be hunting for some comics. And I am looking forward to all the next movies leading up to the Secret Wars. Rock on!!

Nick fury is a white guy in the regular marvel universe, but in the ultimate universe (still marvel, new story lines), its a black guy who looks exactly like sam jackson. The wierd thing is in the last mighty avengers comic from yesterday, it shows nick fury is still the white guy, but that the black version is a disguise that he wears.
May 8th, 2008
dale
even though sam and i share the same nationality i like him as nick since they patterned the ultimate version after him, but i just can’t picture white guys following him in any major war before 2000 and our govt would not have promoted him anyway you have to have the classic cigar chomping friend of captain america as a white guy, is gabe the horn blower white in this universe but i can live with it

Ive been keeping up with the Nick Fury Character for a while. The Ultimate version is alot better. How would it look for a guy with a streak of white hair with blue 1970’s uniform running around in a new Avenger movie, can you say box office slump. It’s the year 2008. The new Nick Fury fits the times. From the clothes to the personality He’s By far the better Nick Fury. Change is good!
May 9th, 2008

Fuck you, Jay. The regular version of Nick Fury is ten times better than Ultimate Fury. Though that doesn’t say a lot, since the Ultimate has been a lot of crap lately (I’m sorry, but it’s the truth).

Ironic_Man
Should the “Ultimate” Nick FurRy be a bald man? Sorry, sesemar2, couldn’t resist. ;-)
Also, to Diegoheavens, if Obama wins in Nov. are you going to again complain about all the “blacks” taking over parts that belong to “white” men?
Sheeesh!
