Jumper Continues Worldwide Box Office Plunder

It looks like Jumper is continuing to kick ass in international markets where it has just held the number one position for the third week in a row. We get news of its bounty from the legendary caves of Yahoo:

The sci-fi fantasy “Jumper” led the foreign box office for a third consecutive weekend, according to studio estimates issued Sunday. The movie, starring Hayden Christensen as a young man who can “teleport” around the world, pulled in $12.8 million from 44 markets; its total stands at $81.9 million.

I must admit, I am a little surprised. I found this film to be a let down, mainly because so much potential was there and it failed to deliver. To continue on the top spot for 3 weeks running internationally is a huge success for the film and I am wondering why its legs are so strong abroud. Is it a lack of quality competition or just a universal appeal for sci-fi that is causing its success?

International friends – why do you suppose Jumper is still doing so well round the globe?
