Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong, and Edgar Ramirez might get to Kill Bin Laden

Apparently there’s somewhat of a line with regard to those wanting to participate in Katherine Bigelow’s aptly titled “Kill Bin Laden” film. Reports say that she’s had to hire an extra level of security just to swat away Hollywood agents and hold her lemonade as she hand picks from a cacouphany of potential stars for he film. With such a prestigious project on her hands it’s no wonder that many stars from around the world would love an opportunity to Kill Osama Bin Laden in this film and we’re learning just a few of the names inside her gallon size hat of selections.

According to Deadline Destry, Jessica Chastain might continue her dominance with the now-untitled project alongside Mark Strong and Edgar Ramirez (Carlos). Meanwhile, Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) is now confirmed, and Joel Edgerton is double confirmed.

Bigelow is of course re-teaming with writer/producer Mark Boal for a project that will most likely be controversial due to the subject matter. They’re currently slated for a December release

The ensemble cast is set to include; Jason Clarke, Chris Pratt, Joel Edgerton, Idris Elba, Rooney Mara, Jennifer Ehle (The King’s Speech), Guy Pearce, Tom Hardy, and Nina Arianda (Tower Heist).

There are few films that I might consider a “sure thing”. This isn’t a guaranteed hit but I do have a very good feeling that this film will be a staple by the end of the year thanks to it’s undoubted ability to extract emotion, generate tears, and maybe have an audience jump up and scream in excitement and elation throughout the course of a viewing that I have to say that this is as close as it’s going to get to being a sure hit without people in blue makeup running around to save a jungle. Katheryn Bigelow is holding the keys to cinematic iconicism in her hands and only a lucky few will be allowed to walk through that door with her.

As a native New Yorker, I have to admit, I’m getting pretty excited!

  1. I am personally wanting to see where they go plot wise (obviously besides the mission). Will they start from 2001 and keep up with where OBL was belived to be at different points in time? Will they make it more personal and follow all the SEALs and CIA involved in the mission? Or will it be 2 hours of real-time fighting?

Either way, I know how it ends and I still am going to see it!

  2. I feel if she was set on making this film from the beginning it would not have been as good. But she was actually researching another film when the Seals she was with were called to this mission. Given the quality of The Hurt Locker I would expect this to be great.
