Colin Farrell offered Total Recall Remake

The shortlist for the lead in a Total Recall remake consisted of Tom Hardy, Michael Fasbender and Colin Farrell. Now it looks like the official offer is on the table wainting for Colin Farrell to decide if he is going to take the role once played by the Governator.

WorstPreviews says:

the studio has officially made the offer to Farrell, who is now in negotiations to play a man tortured by recurring dreams of a trip to Mars, a role that was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original 1990 movie.

Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) is set to direct the new film from a script by Kurt Wimmer (Thomas Crown Affair, Law Abiding Citizen), with plans to begin shooting in late March.

Also, as for the plot, it sounds like it wont be set in a star spanning far future earth as the producer Neal Moritz stated “You know, in the last movie he goes to Mars and we’re not doing that. We’re not going to go to Mars.”

I like that they would take the basic prinicpal and twist but potentially translate it to a more realistic scifi. I really want to see how they play it out.

This of course reduces the likelyhood of triple breasted mutant whores from Mars – but I still have hope.

  1. I think Colin Farrell is the best, under-utilized actor out there. I don’t know why he’s basically disappeared from A-list movies out of the US, but this guy should be making movies that make him the Tom Cruise of this decade! (I mean that in the “pre-jumping-on-the-couch,-I’m-insane Tom Cruise”)
