Emma Stone is Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man Reboot

While we heard recently that Emma Stone was joining the cast of Spider-Man, the assumption was naturally that we would see her scarlet locks and slinky figure as Parker’s love interest Mary Jane, but we jumped too soon.

She’s playing Gwen Stacey.

WorstPreviews shares:

“The chemistry between Andrew [Garfield] and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice,” said director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer). “At the heart of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl. Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde.”

Finding a picture of Emma Stone with blonde hair is a task. It seems she herself wishes she was born a ginger, and it suits her. She is rarely seen in anything but those lovely red wavy curls.

But she was a blonde in her role in The Rocker, which most of you probably didn’t see anyways.

Just sad to think that the Green Goblin is likely going to kill her in the first movie. Maybe they will drag that out a little longer before making the logical leap to Mary Jane.

Which in a mad twist will turn out to be Emma Stone again with red hair, playing Gwen Stacey in the witness protection program and a new alias!! Damn, should have saved that for April Fools Day!

What do you think of Stone as Gwen Stacey after you already wrapped your head around her as MJ?

And for your consideration, the best Gwen Stacey cosplay I have ever seen, taken at FanExpo this past summer:

  1. Honestly, the only villains I’m interested in seeing are Electro (Ultimate version is actually cool) or the Spider Slayers. MAYBE The Vulture if done right.

  2. I don’t want Ultimate Spiderman…I actually hate most of Ultimate Spiderman. Am I the only one who thinks this way?

Why can’t we just have it more traditional Spiderman with some things updated to make more sense but not in a shitty Spiderman 3 way?

Has it been confirmed to be more of an Ultimate take on the character?

  3. FYI, as theyve mentioned: this reboot is loosly based on ultimate spider-man. peter starts off dating MJ while MJ gets jealous of gwen. gwen doesnt get killed by the goblin. shes eventually killed by Carnage and actually later on returns (clone) as Carnage. Eventually Peter starts dating the carnage clone gwen >.<
ofcourse since its loosly based on ultimate spider-man, who knows what they plan to do with these characters

  4. I’m fine with the choice. I know Gwen also appeared in the previous film (as did her father, Capt. Stacy) but I don’t think either character was around enough to make a major impact for the audience. That’s not taking anything away from the actors, but just my POV.

I generally see (for the most part) Gwen Stacy untapped (no bad jokes, please, int’l friends!) and I see this as a good thing, even though some recent thoughts have turned to a return of The Green Goblin. Given how the 2002 lifted Gwen’s storlyine and loosely squeezed it into Mary Jane’s abduction by Gobby, I’m going to drop the bomb here.

Tt won’t go down like that. In fact, I honestly don’t think for one minute there will be a Green Goblin, or a Hobgoblin. Let’s say…oh…Curt Connors turns into The Lizard, for example. Instead of Doc Ock smashing bricks that fall on Capt Stacy, it is a swipe of The Lizard (or Scorpion) tail that is the cause and effect. Likewise, Gwen Stacy is put in danger by Lizard or Scopion, whoever and is knocked off by that character.

I know that makes one pause.
I know folks wouldn’t dream of it.
I know THE FANS would break out the pitchforks and torches, screaming for blood.

But I just got a hunch that it’s not Gobby.
Harry and father Norman could be in the film or honorably mentioned, but…no Goblins need apply.

    Sorry to ruin your day.
    Was it going well?

  5. This is very good news! A lot of people I talk to never knew that Stacy was Peter’s first love interest, so it’s a refreshing change. It’s also convenient that Stone is a natural blonde. I just hope they don’t have the Green Goblin as the main villain in Spider-Man reboot. Keep Stacy around for at least two movies.

  6. Dont see an issue really, Gwen Stacy DOES die in the comics, But this is Hollywood so…..Who Knows.

It would be awesome to get another Green Goblin with proper attire in this re-boot. the previous Trilogy(?)had the Green Goblin/mask wear out it’s welcome IMO(drug it out over 3 movies). The whole Harry Osbourne drama kinda killed off the excitement, I doubt they’ll bring in the Green Guy in this installment but maybee the 2nd one if it hits right.

    Then Kill her off!

BTW Bryce Dallas Howard was one HOT Gwen BTW. thick Calves and all.
    but I wont miss her
