It looks like we might get to meet the Little Fockers, but we will have to do it without Bernie Focker, as a dispute over the size of his role has Dustin Hoffman possibly backing out of the third installment of the franchise.
Dustin Hoffman might not return for the third installment in the Meet the Parents franchise. Entertainment Weekly is reporting a rumor that “there has been strife between Hoffman and the studio over the size of the part, the scheduling of the days on set and other difficulties.” Hoffman has agreed to appear in the film, titled Little Fockers, as part of a funny cameo near the end of the movie, but it seems like that will no longer happen. Universal declined to comment.
Now I like Dustin Hoffman, but I honestly didn’t care one bit for him in Meet the Fockers, and with Little Fockers being about the new generation of Fockers, I don’t see any need for something significant from the grandparents outside of a cameo showing them sharing the joy of the new babies birth. That is all I would have expected.
And frankly if they did bow to his request at a bigger role, it would take away from the film. Letting him walk is just fine since it looks like he was just getting a cameo anyways. Dustin is moving into that “remember him?” category and maybe that’s what he is worried about.
Good choice since i predict this movie bombing.
Remember Him? Not with Dustie dude! Not with Dustie.
Yeah he’s older gen. but one of the betters.
And in this film I cant believe that most of you guys say it could have done without!
He was the yin to Bobby D’s yang.
He and Barbara added life to that film.
His Tai Chi’n,chimi-changa’n, whip cream on Bab’s breasts’n,good natured lawer’n guy that he was made me enjoy that film over and over.
C’MON…………..C’MON!
That’s all
Yeah Bab’s anf Hoff were sooooooo good in that movie and was just enjoyable them bth interact with one another that to me, I would like those 2 characters to have their own movie!
C’mon guy’s you cant really say that those 2 sexually active middle-agers were’nt funny.
they made that movie more enjoyable
It wasn’t funny, it was awkward.
Painfully awkward.
I gotta dissagree with you guys on this. I really didn’t like the first one at all. Barbara and Dustin made the second one enjoyable for me.
Dustin Hoffman from 1967-1980 were absolute gold. I wish he would do wonderful films like that again. The Graduate has been and always will be my favorite movie of all time.
This franchise is going downhill anyway.
Dustin Hoffman was pretty funny in this franchise, I’d rather have him on than not. It just wouldn’t be the same without him, at least for continuity’s sake.
I will not be watching the film if he is not in it as i thought he was far and away the best thing about the second film
Dustin Hoffman wasn’t as good as Robert De Niro in this franchise, so its okay for me.
Forget the Fockers! He needs to do Marathon Man 2: The Dentist’s Chair. :-P
