Brothers Trailer Online

A first Trailer for Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire’s Brothers which also stars Natalie Portman has hit the net over at ET Online

Cinematical describes it:

Maguire plays Sam, a marine off on his fourth tour of duty while Gyllenhaal plays Tommy, his charming bad-boy brother, fresh out of jail. When Sam’s copter is shot down, he’s assumed dead and his wife Grace (Natalie Portman) tries to pull her life back together. Tommy helps, the line blurs, and in true Hollywood fashion, just as she starts to fall for Tommy … it turns out Sam is alive. He was tortured by the Taliban, but now returns home visibly on edge both from his experiences and Tommy’s inclusion in his family’s life.

Once upon a time, these two actors rivalled to wear the tights of your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman, and now are pairing up against each other in a love triange for the affections of the lovely Natalie Portman. The pair look like they could pass for Brothers, so it makes a good fit.

They didn’t offer an Embed, so pop over to ET Online to check it out!

  1. I saw it and gotta say, you guys are off with the Pearl Harbor comparison. This is way more relevant to the times and the acting blows PH away .. I predict all 3 – Jake, Tobey, and Natalie win Oscars.

    1. If you honestly expect any of those three to get an oscar for ‘brothers’ you are sorely mistaken. This is nothing more than a melodramatic movie of the week that prays on people’s sense of patriotism.

This is exactly the type of movie to find itself in the walmart bargain bin 2 months after stumbling onto DVD. Not oscar material.

  2. I had to go see this film to go see what all the hype was about. I was really impressed. Jake Gyllenhaal was the biggest surprise for me. This was a different type of role for him, and he killed it. I heard he actually spent time with juvenile delinquents and ex-criminals to really capture the essence of the role. It seems to have paid off, because he was great.

  3. Even before they showed Tobey Magurie’s character coming home in the trailer I thought wow a modern day version of Pearl Harbor all that was missing was Donnie Darko yelling: “I THINK WORLD WAR 3 JUST STARTED!”

  4. Tobey Maguire as a marine… LMFAO!!! Spider-Man works for him because he has that whole nerdy computer geek thing going for him. But a marine?!

    1. I think hes better at being a villain then a good guy. As a nerd he irritates the fuck out of me but when he plays a bad guy hes awesome….in that black and white movie he was a Nazi…and holy shit he surprised me…he was Ah-mazing

I think George Clooney was in it idk

    2. Hes right you believe what you see to much if you think every marine is ripped.
Marines are the Navy army thats all there not some bad ass killing machines that would the Navy Seals Or Delta Force

  5. Did we all see the same trailer?

This looks like Pearl Harbor meets the O.C., but with a crazy horror vibe thrown in half way through just because they could. Also, the entire audience actually began breaking out into laughter after it ended, which I can’t say I’ve ever seen happen before for a supposedly serious drama.

    Sad stuff

  6. I hate how this trailer spoils the entire goddamn movie for the audience. What Rodney forgets to mention is that this is a remake of the Danish Susanne Bier film also titled Brothers. The original was a bit melodramatic but it was also quite excellent. The twist in the original was that you never knew that the husband was still alive.

  7. The director was responsible for 2 of Daniel Day-Lewis’ best performances ever, My Left Foot and In the Name of the Father. The Boxer was awesome too. I’ll check this out by default. The guy did make Get Rich or Die Tryin but everyone has a blemish on their record at one point in their career.

  8. I gotta say, this trailer blew me away. I had clue what this film was even about and when Tobey Maguire’s character came into it, it sucked me right in. It was like a twist in the trailer itself. Maguire looks like a crazy bastard, let the war of these brothers begin!

  9. This doesn’t look like anything special. It has the same premise as Pearl Harbor and the trailer didn’t spark any interest in me. It almost felt like a made-for-TV movie.
