It would not surprise me one bit if Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to film after his political run ends. Why wouldn’t he?
And amusingly enough Tom “Please Hire Me” Arnold hopes to reunite with the governator with their old bud James Cameron. Will it be the answer to every Arnie fan’s prayers and give us a True Lies 2?? Probably not. But we can dream.
“If all goes as planned, the day Arnold leaves office, we will again team with Jim Cameron and do a comedy. Jim says it might not be called True Lies II, but it will be fun… We’ve all stayed close, which I’ve realized, 50 films later, is very unusual. I love those guys.”
No one ever said Schwarzenegger was a master thespian, but he did put out a lot of films that just plain entertain the crap out of you. He is likeable, he is massive, and he is more quotable than any other action fluff actor out there.
True Lies is the flag on top of the mountain of Schwarzenegger movies. Easily his most entertaining performance, and the way he plays off of Tom Arnold in that film was perfect. Tom might have been the sidekick, but a lot of what Schwarzenegger pulled off in that movie was done with Tom not far behind. The chemistry was undeniable.
I would love to see another True Lies, maybe with Eliza Dushku all growed up and also a superspy. But likely they will just team up for another comedy and I for one am looking forward to it.

I would not mind Eliza Dushku being in a True Lies 2 and Schwartzengger and Jamie Lee Curtis in a cameo. Schwartzengger is now The Agency Director…
But as far as a big role? Even if Cameron was on board I don’t see this happening. Tom Arnold has better luck re-teaming with Steven Seagal for Exit Wounds II.
