Ghostbusters 2009 Game Trailer

With news of a Ghostbusters sequel in the works, it is great to be able to look back at what came before to mentally prepare us for cinematic gold, or utter failure. We have to have a measuring stick on the franchise, and what better way to haul us into nostalgic bliss than with a platform video game with the original voice actors!

The animation looks great for the ghosts, and a little detatched for the guys. Granted, the voice acting pulls those laces tight again and it looks like they can pull it off. No word on gameplay, but if anything this makes me want to get the guys to pull on their proton packs for another film. Rumour has it they will be “passing the torch” to a new younger team, but I hope they only do this to retire and then get called on to save the day when the rookies can’t pull their weight.

  1. Or it might suck ass like most film based games.

Looking at the trailer I saw that there were four white ghostbusters and I thought that Ernie Hudson was not in it and then he showed up in the end. Wasn’t there some issue with him about returning to the franchise?

  2. @ Phil Gee: Bustin’ makes me feel good as well!

I really hope this game is going to be good but based on past experience I highly doubt it.

Neverless I am cautiously optimistic. I grew up on Ghostbusters!

  3. Yea I been watching this game like a hawk. The gameplay is nothing groundbreaking but looks like a fun game. The story was orginally suppose to be the third movie but because of the New Zeland tech demo leaked on youtube public intrest is what got this game made. Orginally it was being published by Seirra games only to be bought out buy Activision/Blizzard. The game was suprisingly dropped only to have been picked up by Atari. It will be realeased on all platforms with the DS, Wii and PS2 versions looking like a new Ghostbusters cartoon rather than realistc on the 360 and PS3.

  4. I love the Ghostbuster’s movies as much as the next movie fanatic and I grew up watching the 80’s cartoon but I have no desire to play this game. I don’t understand the hype on this one.

  5. I wasn’t expecting that either. There’s finally a video game that seems to be doing Ghostbusters justice. I’d be really disappointed if the new movie didn’t take advantage of today’s effects to pull off visuals like these.

Regarding the “dark place,” the developer got bought out either this year or last – can’t remember the details. Anyway, it’s just business deals and signing contracts that got in the way of this for a while.

  6. The trailer looks fucking brilliant…I was so not expecting that. The developer hasn’t been all that promising…plus all the hush hush kind of made it feel like it was being pulled into a ‘dark place’. BUT HEY ITS ALL COOL NOW CUS IT LOOKS PRETTY!

There’s still a pretty big chance the game will suck :P
