Law Abiding Citizen

JusticeThe Foxx and the Butler are teaming up in a psychological revenge thriller named Law Abiding Citizen. We get the following scoop from our friends at the movieweb:

Jamie Foxx is in talks to star opposite Gerard Butler in the psychological thriller Law Abiding Citizen, which Frank Darabont is directing for the Film Department.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script was written by Kurt Wimmer and Darabont, and follows a successful assistant D.A. (Butler) who finds himself at the center of a vigilante plot hatched by a traumatized victim of the legal system (Foxx). Foxx’s character is devastated to learn that, because of a plea bargain, one of his wife and daughter’s murderers will be set free. So he unleashes revenge on the killers and those who made the deal.

I don’t fancy psychological thrillers, but I do like revenge films; and this film looks like it will have lots of that.

Plea bargains and cutting deals with scum bags is a utilitarian tactic that isn’t well received by the general public (see Karla Holmolka). Everyone hungers to see evil doers get what’s coming to them and as long as the hunger for justice remains in our bellies, films like this will continue to be made.

I hope revenge is by means of axe and not the way of the gun. Axe revenge is the best revenge.

P.S. This film’s title rules.

  1. I like the sounds of it! I happen to Love Foxx. He played Ray Charles so well and is just awesome in Jarrhead. I really like psycho-thrill movies and am a big fan of the REVENGE genre. So all elements are in play. I agree to the hope for lack of gun violence and would much prefer an axe to the face or simply killing with his bare hands. Maybe a spear or a two-by-four… shit, no… I got it… A BIG Length of METAL CHAIN with a weight on the end. Yeah!

  2. I love my Butler, he is the sex, but he cannot hide his accent to save his life.

My life was so blissful for a short period, and then The Soloist trailer was released and I was reminded that Jamie Foxx exists. Bliss gone!
