I don’t think this has been verified to date – but we will be on the look out for confirmation. I cant say I am a fan of the “alien” looking tank. I would have much preferred a standard earth tank of some sort, but I’m glad Megatron has a gun built into him, that is for certain.
I have low expectations for Transformers 2, the news coming down the pipe has been concerning, and I am preparing to be let down. On the plus side – Devastator may be in the film – and I wanted him to show up more than anybody.
What do you guys think of the look?
We get the following update from superherohype: The Hasbro Licensing Summit 2008 has confirmed that those images are indeed the new transformed version of Megatron a/p Transformers World. Their report from the summit also confirms that the Chevy Corvette is the disguised form of Sideswipe and that Devastator and Ravage will be appearing in the sequel. – cheers Broly for the hookup!

in the first one i liked the jet and his design, the reason why i didnt like him was because he didnt talk and his head/face looked too random/not like megatron…unlike optimus who was dead on
THIS design i hate..the “tank” design…
and i went to PAKIPACOs link and the desegns look nothing liek megatron…
this tank is an awsome thing to have in your garage or in an action movie but…its not megatron! for megatron..its lame!

(if im not allowed to post this link, sorry about that Doug) i think its confirmerd that the tank is gonna be megatron.
But when you look at the last image, you can see his head is like more galvatron-crown shaped, megatron also had a bit of a crown shaped head in the first movie, but this look different, more galvatron-like.

Megatron deciding against taking an Earth-based 2nd form makes sense. He believes, in all his arrogance, that “blending in” is beneath him.

Paul, it’s Megatron. There’s been concept art out for the toy of this for awhile now.
I like it, for megatron to suddenly become a earth vehicle like all the rest would feel a bit strange to me, I had the 2nd Gen toy when he was a tank.
In a way a suppose the enemy should feel like he has the upper hand in some ways, so that the hero is the underdog and when he does succedd it’s all the more impressive, optimus in a way is hindered by being a primitive earth vehicle, he has to disguise himself whereas megatron who doesn have to be in the film for long is just a destructive force and doesn’t care about disguising himself. I know I’m not totally right here but it’s just an idea.
A friend of mine who’s read ALL the comics, pointed out that this might NOT be Megatron, since THE FALLEN was a tank in the comics!!!!!

I think it looks really freaking nasty and ugly, both tank form and robot form. Megatron has to be one of the worse looking designed robots i’ve ever seen.
Why couldn’t they make Megatron a triple-changer, it worked well in the cartoons
I hope he can still turn into that crazy jet. A tank’s great and all, but we already saw the Autobots tear one of those apart in the last movie. Giving Megatron several different destructive forms would be too cool.
Sometimes looks don’t matter, its what it could do that’s importent.
Megatron was a gun, which was one of the lamest Transformers there were, he would transform and drop into another guys hand to shoot someone when they all have guns of various size and shape, I never understood that.
A tank is a great idea, and since in the first movie he was in his alien form I am good with him staying that way.

I think he looks alright. Really like the cannon, but I’m not a fan of the cybertronian look.
Also, Jetfire, Ravage (one of Soundwave’s minions) and Devastator were all just confirmed to be in the film.

Well…It actually makes some sense if you think about it. Megatron was a jet and a tank throughout various seasons. In the first, he was an Alien jet because he was a giant ice cube for most of the movie and didn’t really have enough time to copy an earth jet once he escaped from the facility. And since it looks like he won’t have time to adapt into an earth tank this time around, isn’t it fitting for him to use an Alien tank-form, instead?
Personally, I like it.
