Wonder Woman to Look Like Wonder Woman

The good folks over at Empire have a nice new article up about Joss Whedon and the new Wonder Woman project he has in the works. To me, the best news coming out of that article is this:

“It’s not a reinvention like, ‘Oh, she’s going to dress like Trinity'” he said reassuringly. “I want to see Wonder Woman as I know her and see her, not … [just] star-spangled panties. But she wears the Wonder Woman outfit, and she has the bracelets and all the accoutrements; The lasso and, if I can make it work for the plot, the invisible plane.

This comes as a huge relief to a lot of people as I know there was some concern that Whedon was going to totally redo the image of Wonder Woman. I guess we can all sleep a little easier now. Now all he has to do is cast the damn thing.

  1. I think since Joss didn’t like the book or the Linda Carter TV show, but wants to keep the ‘classic icongraphy’ such as the look, the lasso and the plane, that there are really two Joss Whedons.

I think both of them will throw in the towel by the end of the year.

  2. Thanks for the intelligent, adult posting Alfredo. The whole purpose for this website, John Campea correct me if I’m wrong, the purpose is for people to share their personal views and opinions and hopefully to carry on decent conversations regarding movies. Mine and the other two logs are our personal opinions and I’m sure they are shared by many people. Can you dissagree in a mature manner about the topic discussed here? I feel that the Wonder Woman costume will not translate well on the big screen. For that matter I have doubts about the character being made into a decent film. I don’t doubt that Wonder Woman is a “Staple” of DC Comics. I don’t even have a problem with the character at all, I just imagine a film version will not do the justice the comics deserve.

Now that is how mature, intellegent adults have a conversation, give it a try.

  3. You F#$%ING MORONS!!! Wonder Woman is a staple of the DC Comics and an icon that’s lasted for 50 years. The last three posts are examples of the price we pay for Free Speech. The next time you guys have thought keep it to your self and you’ll all be way ahead of the game.

  4. I have to agree that they should walk away from this. I was discussing the idea last night and I realized its just a bad idea. I like Wonder Woman fine but I don’t imagine that she will translate well onto the big screen especially her costume. With X-men they changed up the costumes even joking in the first about yellow spandex and the film was much better for it. I even think the Superman costume is a little hoaky for films but that’s Superman and that movie will do just fine. I have my doubts about Wonder Woman being even a decent movie.

  5. They should redo her costume. She has the worst costume I’ve ever seen. Hell, shes one of the worst super heros, period.

Lasso of truth and invisible planes? Please. This sis such a C list movie. Whedon shouldn’t have even gone near this.
