Tyrese Gibson is The Green Lantern?
I had said last week that the rapper T.I. had read for the part of ‘Green Lantern’ in the new JLA movie, but it looks like the part has been cast to a more reputable actor.Moviesonline gives us this:
According to the very cool folks at Movies.ca via BeyondHollywood Tyrese Gibson is going to play the Green Lantern in the Justice League movie
. Am I happy about this news? Very much so. Out of the two musicians/actors, I would much prefer seeing Tyrese fill the role as the famous superhero, than seeing T.I. Although, I’m one of those people that think that Tyrese should be going for meatier roles. The only one these days who gives him any roles with substance is John Singleton. (Fast and Furious 2 excluded-wtf was that bullsh*t?) He really didn’t have much to in this year’s ‘Transformers’ and I only fear that is role in this film is going to minimal as well. So what do you guys think? Do you think Tyrese has what it takes to be the ‘Green Lantern?’
TYRESE SUCKS AT ACTING AND BASICALLY HIS MUSIC IS CRAP MOST OF THE TIME UNLESS IT HAS SOME ONE FAMOUS ON THE TRACK…..I MEAN HE IS A MODEL SO HE IS ATTRACTIVE TO WOMEN….BUT GREEN LANTERN? BAH!
I thinks its good casting, John Stewart is as interesting a Green Lantern as Hal Jordan is and Tyrese has the chops to pull it off. In DC comics he just replaced Hal on the Justice League and is acting as general in the field in the Sinestro Corps War, he is being re-established as more than just another Green Lantern. All Tyrese needs to do look wise is to grow out his hair!
Jippie, I’m now slightly less interested in this project than before! I really can wait for the next exciting announcement! Don’t bring it on!

While I’m somewhat relieved Gibson has been chosen, it is basically meaningless. JLA will go down to the wire of prep- and then, the plug is pulled.
It has been revealed that the main baddie in JLA is Lex Luthor, that Batman and Superman are part of the JLA. All three roles would have to be recast since Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey and Christian Bale are not in it. It is the biggest Achilles heel, and *the* primary reason most folks are not for a JLA film.
I say hang on to Tyrese, someone write up a Lantern script with with the Lantern core (and thus, one can get away with Guy Gardner like jacket/uniforms) and use the actor in that way….”brah’.
Oh God, this movie is looking to turn out to be superbad. And I did NOT mean that in a good way! >.
Tyrese DOES look like the Green Lantern, and he DOESN’T have to grow out his hair to be him either. There is a bald Green Lantern. I’m completely fine with him being the Green Lantern. I’m just worried about the movie itself.
Yay!! Green Lantern is my fav superhero whether it’s Hal or Stewart. You know it has been written that Green Lantern is the second strongest superhero there is after Superman of course. Who wants all that pressure anyways? He may not look too much like Stewart, but he does have the *ahem* right skin color. With today’s technology it’s going to kick ass on the big screen watching him use the ring. Oh, but the fanboys..the fanboys will never be satisfied with whatever the studio decides to do with this. …Green Lanterns might!!!
LOL…TI and now Tyrese….what all the other decent to horrible black actors were taken…..Tyrese! damn homie…..damn……not a fan of green latern (tho i liked the black guy on justice league) bit i think this is a bad idea……i agree with the other guy, what sam jacks too busy……i dont think the guy can act for shit….2fast 2furious he was horrible…..baby boy he was aight….transformers…..no comment

i agree with u bjon, when i 1st heard tyrese may be cast i thought he would be cool. worst actor ever?? come-on he ain’t that bad. he was cool in 4 brothers & baby boy. f&f 2 was just crap b/c of that he was crap. i’ve said b/4, this movie will probably suck unless they some how get the animated series guys involved. i loved that series and they know how to handle ensemble casts. they did great with the 30 min show. just imagine what they can do with 2-3 hrs if they write the best story ever. oh yea, sam j …he’s aight but too skinny & old

Tyrese was decent in Annapolis. If he can play that guy but more clever he would be decent. There was a time when john stewart was bald. He would still need facial hair though. I am a GL fan boy so I will be dissapointed either way I am sure. Being a fan boy though I have to say supes is not stronger than GL ever. Any GL can use his ring to emit radiation to match kryptonite and murder the shit out supes at any time. Or just filter the light of the sun so it is not yellow. etc…
