The upcoming action-thriller Attack on Paradise is officially heading to the Fantasia International Film Festival. The film is scheduled to hold its world premiere on Sunday, July 19, at the Auditorium des diplômés de la SGWU in Montreal.
Directed by Bob Colaers, the film follows the story of Suleyman, a man recently released from a seven-year prison sentence. Upon his return, he discovers that his home, a flat block known as Paradise, has been overtaken by criminal gangs. When a police raid on the building turns violent, Suleyman finds himself fighting alongside a rookie officer to reach his mother and ensure her safety.
The project features a screenplay written by Sven Huybrechts, Saïd Boumazoughe, and Salahdine Ibnou Kacemi. The cast includes Saïd Boumazoughe, Clara Cleymans, Achmed Akkabi, Jamal Ben Saddik, and Imanuelle Grives. The film is a co-production between Belgium and the Netherlands.
A High-Stakes Action Narrative
The premise of the film promises a tense, floor-by-floor battle for survival. By focusing on a protagonist forced to navigate a familiar environment that has become hostile, the story leans into the classic tropes of the action-thriller genre. The inclusion of the film in the Horizon section of the festival suggests it is a title to watch for fans of international genre cinema.
Following the premiere, a press day is scheduled for Monday, July 20, featuring director Bob Colaers and creator/co-writer/actor Saïd Boumazoughe. For more information on the festival screening, you can visit the official Fantasia International Film Festival website.
