AnimEigo Announces New Anime Licenses and AD Police Files 4K Restoration

During their panel at Anime Expo 2026, distributor AnimEigo announced a slate of new home media licenses and a 4K restoration for a classic OVA. The company, a division of MediaOCD, confirmed that several titles are joining their catalog, alongside updates for previously announced projects.

New Home Media Licenses

The upcoming lineup includes the 26-episode crime mystery series Sakon the Ventriloquist, which features a puppeteer solving murders in the Edo era. Also joining the catalog is Drucker in the Dugout, a 10-episode series produced by Production I.G that follows a high school baseball team using management strategies to improve their performance. Additionally, the 12-episode series House of Five Leaves, directed by Tomomi Mochizuki, is scheduled for an HD Blu-ray release in early 2027.

The distributor also announced that the 35-episode shojo classic Baby & I, directed by Takahiro Omori, will arrive on Blu-ray in 2027. The series follows a young boy balancing his childhood while helping his father raise his toddler brother.

AD Police Files 4K Restoration

A highlight of the announcement is the world’s first 4K restoration for AD Police Files. The three-episode OVA serves as a prequel to Bubblegum Crisis and focuses on the early career of inspector Leon McNichol. This restoration is being handled by MediaOCD.

Vampire Princess Miyu and Blog Updates

AnimEigo provided an update on the upcoming home media release of Vampire Princess Miyu, which is set for September 8. Every order will include a pair of blank Blu-ray case inserts. Pre-orders are currently available through the official MediaOCD web store.

Beyond physical media, the company is launching a new series of monthly columns on the MediaOCD blog. These articles will be written by various anime industry figures, with the first entry penned by author and historian Jonathan Clements.

These announcements continue AnimEigo’s long-standing effort to bring classic Japanese animation to North American audiences with high-quality home media releases.
