Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with Anonymous Content and Audible, have announced the upcoming release of Impact Winter: Evenfall #1. This new one-shot prequel comic expands the world of the hit post-apocalyptic audio drama series.
The story is written by series creator Travis Beacham, known for his work on Pacific Rim and Carnival Row, with art by Sumeyye Kesgin. Set in 1953 at the height of the Cold War, the narrative follows intelligence operative Penelope Chambers as she conducts an off-the-books investigation into the disappearance of female agents in Eastern Europe. Her mission in Soviet Prague leads her to a confrontation with the supernatural.
Expanding the Impact Winter Universe
The release of this one-shot continues the expansion of the franchise, which has already seen success as a top-performing Audible Original. Beyond the individual comic issues, a trade paperback collection is scheduled for release in August 2026. This collection will gather Impact Winter #1, Impact Winter: Rook #1, and the new Evenfall #1, offering fans a comprehensive look at the series’ comic book entries.
The audio drama itself remains a significant part of the franchise, with three seasons currently available and a fourth in development. Its success highlights a growing trend of audio-first storytelling successfully transitioning into visual mediums like comics. By bridging the gap between the sonic experience of the podcast and the visual storytelling of the comic page, the creative team continues to build out the lore of this vampire-infested world.
Impact Winter: Evenfall #1 is scheduled to arrive in comic book shops and on digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on November 5, 2025.
