The Greatest: Michael B. Jordan’s Muhammad Ali Series Gets Trailer

Prime Video has officially announced the release date for its highly anticipated The Greatest limited series. The announcement was made during the Essence Festival of Culture, where the streamer also debuted the first teaser trailer for the project.

The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 4. This project marks the first authorized scripted television series centered on the life of the legendary boxing icon. Lonnie Ali, the widow of the late champion, serves as an executive producer on the show.

The production is led by showrunner Ben Watkins, known for his work on the series Cross, and is produced through Michael B. Jordan and his production banner, Outlier Society. By focusing on the man born Cassius Clay, the series aims to provide an intimate look at his journey from a heavyweight champion to a global humanitarian figure.

A New Look at a Boxing Icon

Jaalen Best stars in the lead role as Muhammad Ali. The teaser trailer highlights Best’s physical preparation for the part, featuring training sequences that capture Ali’s early ambition to become the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history. The cast also includes Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, and Kai Parham.

Rather than functioning as a standard sports biography, the eight-episode series is designed as an exploration of the personal pressures and pivotal choices that shaped Ali’s life. The production team includes a wide array of executive producers, including Elizabeth Raposo, Corey Salter, Marc Rosen, and Matthew Gross, with additional support from Authentic Studios, Grace: A Storytelling Company, Roc Nation, and Polygram Entertainment.
