Marathi Drama Frame Explores Journalistic Ethics on ZEE5

A New Perspective on Photojournalism

The upcoming Marathi original film Frame is set to premiere on ZEE5 on July 10, 2026. This intense social drama delves into the complex relationship between professional duty and human compassion, specifically through the demanding world of photojournalism.

Directed by Vikram Patwardhan, the story centers on the conflicting ideologies of two colleagues at a Pune-based newspaper. Chandu Pansare, played by Nagraj Manjule, is a seasoned professional who prioritizes capturing the shot above all else. In contrast, Sidharth Deshmukh, portrayed by Amey Wagh, represents an idealistic newcomer struggling to reconcile his professional responsibilities with his personal empathy.

Testing Morality in Crisis

The narrative tension escalates when a devastating earthquake forces the two characters into a landscape of chaos and survival. As they document the aftermath, the film examines the emotional and ethical toll of witnessing human suffering. The story challenges both the characters and the audience to consider the thin line between being an observer and a participant in moments of tragedy.

The film also features performances by Mugdha Godse and Akshaya Gurav. Produced by Aatpaat and Zee Studios, the project aims to provide a mature, layered look at the responsibilities that come with media coverage during times of crisis.

Why It Matters

Frame stands out by moving beyond the typical newsroom setting to focus on the human stories behind the headlines. By using photography as a central storytelling device, the film forces a reflection on the role of media and the moral cost of ambition. For viewers interested in character-driven dramas, the clash between Manjule’s ruthless professional and Wagh’s empathetic newcomer offers a compelling look at how individuals navigate their own moral compasses when faced with extreme circumstances.
