Marvel Announces The Amazing Venom Solo Series Starring Comeback

Marvel Comics is expanding its symbiote lore with a brand-new solo series titled The Amazing Venom. The five-issue limited series follows Fred Myers, the villain formerly known as Boomerang, as he takes on the mantle of Comeback while bonded to a new symbiote named Passenger.

The Amazing Venom 01

First introduced in April in Web of Venom #1, the character is set to embark on a cosmic journey to the symbiote homeworld of Klyntar. The series is written by Jordan Morris with art by Luke Ross. According to the official synopsis, the story picks up following the fallout of the war between Hela and Knull, forcing Myers into a mission that tests his capabilities as a host.

This new comic series arrives as the character prepares for a live-action appearance in the upcoming MCU film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While casting details for other villains like Tombstone and Scorpion have been confirmed, Marvel Studios has not yet announced who will portray the character on the big screen.

Expanding the Symbiote Mythos

The shift from Boomerang to Comeback offers a fresh take on the traditional symbiote-host dynamic. By moving away from established hosts like Eddie Brock or Flash Thompson, the creative team has the opportunity to explore a different kind of anti-hero narrative. Morris noted that the series will balance action and comedy while providing some unexpected character growth for the former boomerang-hurling villain.

The first issue of The Amazing Venom features a main cover by Stefano Caselli, with additional variant covers by Erik Larsen and Matteo Lolli. Fans can look for the debut issue when it hits comic book shops on September 16, 2026.
