Marvel fans, rejoice! The wait is almost over for the Disney+ release of Thunderbolts*. The superhero crossover movie, directed by Jake Schreier, brought together six fan-favorite characters from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Taskmaster, John Walker, Bucky Barnes, and Ghost reluctantly teamed up to stop Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and Bob/Sentry/Void.
The Thunderbolts Experience
At the end of Thunderbolts*, the titular team and Pullman’s Bob were rebranded as the New Avengers by Fontaine, setting up their next appearance in the MCU. The movie’s post-credits scene hinted at their next move, which will be in Avengers: Doomsday, showing the New Avengers dealing with trademark infringement and the arrival of the Fantastic Four to their universe.
Thunderbolts* will be added to Disney+ on August 27, 2025, roughly three months after its theatrical release. The movie was previously released for digital download on July 1 and on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 29.
Final Thoughts
The talented cast, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman, have all been confirmed to reprise their respective MCU roles in Doomsday. The movie will also bring back six actors from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise, including Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden.
Thunderbolts* is expected to arrive on Disney+ on August 27, 2025, while Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
