Zach Cregger, the director behind Barbarian and Weapons, has written a script for a DC movie that could be in the works. The film, titled Henchmen, follows a low-level henchman in Gotham City who accidentally incapacitates Batman and becomes notorious in the city’s crime underworld.
What We’re Hearing About Henchmen
While the movie’s plot may seem unconventional, it’s not entirely surprising, considering Cregger’s background in writing for the DC Universe. His script is reportedly an original story that doesn’t focus on well-known characters like Joker and Harley Quinn.
Instead, the film follows a lesser-known henchman who gains notoriety in Gotham City’s crime underworld after incapacitating Batman through a stroke of luck. The report suggests that characters like Batman, Joker, and Harley Quinn could make brief appearances in the movie.
However, there are several hurdles for the film to overcome before it can be made. James Gunn and Peter Safran have not yet cast any of the Batman characters in the DCU, and the duo will likely be cautious with Batman-related content while Matt Reeves is still crafting his own The Batman universe.
Final Thoughts
Cregger has acknowledged the script but hasn’t yet planned to start working on it. He mentioned that he has an original sci-fi film and a Resident Evil movie in the works before tackling the DC project.
