Lucasfilm Shuts Down Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Return Rumors in AHSOKA Season 2
Star Wars fans, it’s time to put down your lightsabers and acknowledge that Ewan McGregor will not be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in AHSOKA Season 2. The rumors that spread like wildfire across social media began when McGregor mentioned his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays Hera Syndulla in the Disney+ series, during his appearance at Fan Expo Boston 2025.
The Confusion abotu McGregor
The confusion started when McGregor was asked which Star Wars project he’s not in but still enjoys. He responded by saying he enjoyed watching AHSOKA, partly because his wife is involved in the show. However, he didn’t mention anything about his own appearance in the series. Unfortunately, some fans misheard or misinterpreted his statement, leading to widespread speculation that he’d be returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Lucasfilm has since stepped in to set the record straight, confirming that Ewan McGregor will not be appearing in AHSOKA Season 2. Despite his enthusiasm for a possible return, a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi has yet to be greenlit.
While fans might be disappointed by this news, there’s still plenty to look forward to in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian & Grogu movie is scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, and who knows what other exciting projects are in the works?
What’s Next for Star Wars?
As fans, we can’t help but wonder what’s next for Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Star Wars universe. Will we see more of McGregor’s iconic character in the future? Only time will tell. For now, we’ll just have to keep our lightsabers at the ready and wait for the next exciting development.
